So I've been doing a little reading and I have been wanting to buy a XX-1 board but I have read a lot of bad stuff about them:( Are there any XX-1 boards that are of good quality on the market right now? If so could any one tell me where to look? Thanks alot you guys are great!

What kind of "bad stuff" are you referring to? The 60-in-1 is probably the best, cheapest, easiest. If you're anal about every single game being 100% accurate as far as sound or frame rate or something, you may not find any multiboard to be to your liking. You just have to decide what games you like the most, then find the most reliable board with those games...

I have never played any xx-1 board so I can't say first hand but what I have read is that the sound is really off and the reaction to the controls can be bad. But like I said I not sure how true that is or if it's something a novice would even notice. Also are there different makers of these boards and does the quality differ from one to the next?

Multiboard

I read on one of your earlier posts that you love fighters, if that's the case I would recommend the capcom 18-1. It has quite an impressive list of fighters and a couple of fun beat em ups. Also not that I'm shilling for them but Jammaboards is where I got mine and at the moment they are having a sale so you might want to check them out. With that being said that board is not perfect, my Hyper Street Fighter Anniversary doesn't have any of the sounds for characters that are not the Turbo versions which from what I read it a hit or miss sorta thing. Doesn't really ruin the enjoyment of playing street fighter just a little annoying. As for gameplay the fighters play spot on from my perspective maybe tournament fighters or frame counters would dispute this but considering I have been playing these games for the better part of 20 years I can't tell the difference :)

Very cool!! Yeah I do have a bunch of cps2 fighters so I have my fill of them...for now. I wanted to get a good DKs, PACs and galagas oh yeah and frogger board. I figured I would ask so I wouldn't just blindly buy a piece-o-shit board you know the ones made in Kazacstan. I wanted to put it in a DK cab I'm restoring.

I'm very partial to the arcadeshop programmable pcb, I have a 60 in 1 and I took it out because I liked how the games sounded/played on the arcadeshop pcb way better. Nicer menu and it saves your initials on high scores, not just the top score with no initials. But the 60 in 1 is fine as is since they are like 50 bucks now, arcade shop pcb runs closer to 275 I believe.

Other than Gyruss, the sound differences aren't noticeable unless you are a huge fan of the game. Folks mention Bombjack sound problems, but I've never played a dedicated Bombjack so I never noticed a problem.

And that's another thing. You get what you pay for. If you want perfect - dish out the bucks. Can't go cheap and expect perfection...

So I went on arcadeshop programmable pcb and this is what came up:

The Programmable Multi-PCB has been discontinued by the factory and is no longer available. We continue to offer
new DK2 codes and the ability to reset codes so your board can be reprogramed.

Born to late to take advantage:( Well in other news jammboards.com does have a 60-1 for $140 without shipping. I read the reviews people left on the sight and overall they seemed happy with it.
Ill keep looking to see what else I can find to make sure I get the most for my money I mean quality not quantity. I want a good board that will last for a long time not a 1000-1 that will desentagrate after a couple months of use. If anyone knows of any other places to buy them from I would appreciate the info.
Does any one know if they make a multi board with DK 1,2,&3?

Pretty sure a couple people on here sell the 60 in 1 for $60 shipped. It has DK, Dk Jr and DK 3 on it.

DK 2 is a modern sequel that someone in the community made, it is not freely available, and I believe the arcadeshop board and real donkey kong hardware is the only thing that can run it.

The old version has clones still available and there is a new version that uses a sd cards that's still being updated, go to Phoenix arcade or search the threads on here for the new one. Paradise arcadeshop has the clone of the old one.

Ok I gotta claim ignorance on these programmable boards what's the difference between the old ones and the new ones with the SD card?
