Xmen 6 Player

Nearly two tons!

Can you imagine trying to lift it? I think the original post stated it was on rollers which is good. But imagine trying to lift her up.

Actually - the dimensions arent that bad! I have a SH and SW cockpit that have a Depth of 73 1/2 each (24 - 25 wide) and in a way you can equate this cab...

The XMEN is 77 high (same as an EDOT!), 73 wide, 49 front to back. Not bad.

So, takes up room of nearly three games side to side. The depth is usually a non issue since you plan to have room for players in the front anyway (its 14 or so more than standard depths). Next to standard machines it bulges out, so a corner is ideal....

Compared with a cockpit its almost equal (side to side) except in a Cockpit you dont need to worry about the players standing in front of it playing since thats built in literally (player sits in it) - although you do need to leave the hatch open to get in an out on either side.

It's not that bad. I think a Race Drivin' cockpit, as well as most linked racers, are heavier and tougher to move than this. The control panel is really light since there's nothing in it other than the pcb and some wiring. The two monitors aren't extremely heavy either, but one of them is mounted so it is sticking out the back end so it causes it to take up more depth from the wall. I had one, but it's tough to rationalize keeping it unless you consistently have 5 or 6 people around to play it.

It is actually 49 side to side, about the width of two cabinets. It is 73 front to back. Which means in a line up of games, it sticks out more than three feet past all the regular cabinets.

What pisses me off about it is that the monitor box sticks out the back. It leaves a giant space behind the machine where people put their coats, empty beers, and vomit. I still would not trade it for the world.

When my X-Men was on location at the arcade I bought it from, they had it sitting in its own area right by the entrance. i think maybe a change machine was off to the side but that was it. :D I've been thinking of the possibility of moving mine to a different spot in the game room and moving the 2 pins that currently occupy that space.

I'm sorry, but this made me let out a belly laugh.

I'll never forget the first time I saw one of these at an arcade in Hawaii. I was drawn to it...

Oh wow - I took that from GGDB (their width is 73, depth as 49).

Surprised about that - looks wider. Pics are deceiving. I guess in that case, it definitely would need to be stuck in a corner.

Cool cabinet and a fun game. The only thing that kills it for me is the free play option - it's just not the same with free play!

That's why I drop $5 virtual in mine (when it's on the standard amount of lives) and just play through that way. Much more enjoyable.

I've never personally come across a board with a free play option. My 6 player doesn't have it, but it must have been something with conversion kits maybe? I know the manual references 2 different version of the pcb.

Sorry, I meant free play in the sense that I can just hit the coin switch and continue where I left off.

If it didn't eat up so much room I would definitley hold on to it. The monitor out of the back is mainly what makes it so bad. The front control panel is easy enough to disconnect and slide over for extra room. It is a totally awesome game. I want to get six people to play through it before its sold. It's gotta be a blast.

You might try looking at Ground Kontrol's website to see what they did with theirs. It has an LCD in it and they took off about half of the cabinet that way. And the LCD actually looked surprisingly good. It woud probably cost you a few hundred to do, but might make it worth keeping for you. I'm thinking about doing it just because I could use the monitors for other projects.
