Curious to hear what you guys think an xmen pcb and controls (4 player) is worth together.

Please let me know as I am thinking of a new build. Thanks!

what do you mean by "controls"? The wiring? The joysticks? All the buttons? Or the entire populated control panel with good overlay?

The entire populated control panel with good overlay.... What do you think with the PCB?

For me, it would be $50-$75, depending on the condition, for the full control panel only. That may or may not include shipping, also depending on condition.

The board is fairly desirable, I think it goes for $75-$100 these days, though I may be wrong on that.

Consider this a tentative offer, if you like... :)

IF and only IF it has the correct joysticks in good condition and a spectacular overlay with only minor wear AND the correct buttons. I'd say you're looking at $150 bucks alone for that.

Combined with the board I'd say $250. Just need to find a cab with a good 25" monitor and you're good. Repro sideart is available. You'll proabably have to cough up $200 for a nice Konami cab with a good monitor and no CP.

Where can I find good quality full side repro sideart for the Konami cab?

So its safe to say the board itself is worth at least 100?

yes but only if the sound is confirmed to be working. If it's got any static or clearly a sound issue, the price becomes iffy as it's about to sound suicide. The hybrid sound chip needs to be capped on every single one of these boards. I would say that a board with the sound chip capped and 100% working is worth $150-$175

+1

the custom sound chip is the most important factor when buying a X-Men pcb. If it has signs of going out the price goes wayyyyy down. It's not an easy fix to cap the sound chip and almost impossible to find a replacement.

I got my board off eBay for $65.00

Board played worked great when I got it.

Now, I have to look at the audio section: Board plays great but sounds scratchy.

Thanks for the info guys! I looked at the completed listings on ebay seems the going price is around 75 for the boards... no mention of the sound other than it works.

Anyone know the original colors of the joysticks on the control panel? I looked at images I see a lot of BLUE, RED, YELLOW, PURPLE.

The one Im looking at is BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, PURPLE (basically Im trying to figure out how to tell it is original)

Buttons are Blue, Red and Yellow

Can anyone explain at what point when the game is turned on the scratchy/static sounds can be heard? During gameplay or is it recognizable on the initial screen?

Also, I have a Konami Lethal Enforcers cab... think it could be an easy swap?

Thanks!

Make sure the joysticks are WICO microswitch joysticks; those are the factory ones. You can always find the correct color (red instead of green) WICO stick. The actual WICO sticks can be swapped around between joystick bases. The push buttons are the normal microswitch buttons, nothing special.

Please do not put Xmen into a Lethal Enforcers cab. I don't think that will turn out very well since the control on the stock LE cab is so shallow. You will be creating a monster :)

Edit: The sound will be scratchy/popping/gone at random times in either attract or game mode if the chip is going bad.

So basically WICO joysticks are identified by looking for the balled tops? Ive seen pictures of WICO joysticks.. does the picture in this post look like original?

Actually I was kinda hoping I would switch back and forth between Lethal Enforcers and XMEn is I get this pcb and control panel. Just wondering if its possible to pull the guns and ocb out... swap out with xmen pcb and controls and play? Its a stretch but would prevent me from having to buy a cab.

Even if it is a monster... Would it work?

No. It would not work. LE does not have enough space to accomodate that panel. The top surface extends further than the CP box on those 4-player Konami games. The LE also has a curved outward front edge which would not be easy to figure out for placement of the panel.

Study these shapes:

Cool got it... seemed like a good idea.. at least I thought... glad to know.

Can anyone speak to the condition of the control panel? pic is a little blurry... but looks original to me?

Any recommendations for Cabs to pick up for the conversion? Ive seen Gauntlet used before..

Also, someone mentioned side art repro... where can this be found?

That looks like an original cp/controls. The Wico microswitch joysticks will say Wico on the topside of the switch mounting plate. You have to take the stick apart to see it, but those look like wicos.

I would try to find a 4 player konami cab (thats already converted or gutted) to swap this into (as stated earlier). This way the cp will bolt right up. TMNT cabs have 1 speaker and the rest (xmen, simpsons, sunset riders, etc) have 2 speakers for stereo sound. Try to find a 2 speaker cab (no TMNT!) so that you can have that bitchin' stereo sound from Xmen.

The scratchy sounds start playing upon start up: during DEMO PLAY, GAME PLAY, and SOUND TEST. You no do not have to wait for a specific point in the game to hear the scratchy sounds.

Edit: The sound will be scratchy/popping/gone at random times in either attract or game mode if the chip is going bad.

That's what I'm thinking too.

Thanks again for all the info.

Control panel is in good - (possibly) great shape and original

PCB - if no sound issues

What would you guys pay for the combo of the 2? Would 100 bucks be a steal or average?
