This one's been a maintenance nightmare. Mostly lamp issues, but it seems like I replace one part and another goes bad almost immediately afterwards.

Anyway I now have a fully working lamp driver, but now my auxilary lamp driver keeps going thru SCR's. It's mainly the chaser lamps in the backbox that are affected, but it seems like I replace one and then another goes out, and so on and so on. No rhyme or reason, and no pattern that I can see. I've already replaced 4 or 5 SCR's and now looks like at least one more has crapped out. I'm about ready to take the sledgehammer to it and try another auxilary lamp driver. What would you do?

Another minor issue I'm having is that the ball sometimes skips the lock saucer during the ramp shot (about one in every 5 to 10 times). Ive tried tweaking surrouding posts but nothing seems to work. When it does this the game is still playable and still scoring, but the music stops and you lose the MOTA for that shot because the game is still waiting for the ball to enter the lock. Any suggestions here?

Keith,
It has been my experience that most issues with the Aux Lamp Driver board are caused by crappy headers. I would replace the headers on the Aux Lamp Driver board and also change out the connectors while I am at it.

The lower ball saucer is notorious for having problems capturing the ball in Xenon. Check the two spring posts and the standing pin (nail or whatever you want to call it) to make sure they are not broken or tweaked in a manner that won't allow the ball to seat in the saucer.

It was a connector issue, but the problem was my schematics are off, so I was chasing the wrong one alltogether. Finally found the right connector and fixed it. Now we will see if the game can go more than a week without any more problems.

All the springs and pins are in place. I have tweaked the pins some, and also tweaked the ramp between the tube and saucer so it will slow the ball down there a little. I also cleaned the saucer area and shaved around it a little so the ball seats in it better. So far so good, but not counting on it to never skip that hole again sometime. Time will tell I guess.
