Xbox Live Summer of Arcade 2010: Castlevania HoD, Hydro Thunder H, Limbo, and more

I did a post last year, so I suppose I should this year as well.

Microsoft is bringing back the "Summer of Arcade." Five big titles for the Live Arcade. Just like last year, you more you buy, the better savings you get. This time around, buy three of the five and get 400 points back, or buy all five and get 1200 points back. I get the feeling their all going to be 1200 points this year, so that's getting one for free!

We started last week off with Limbo: dark, bloody, puzzling, and frustrating as shit. But there's nothing better than finally figuring out something that's been driving you nuts for hours. I'm not quite halfway through yet, but so far I'm loving it.

Pick it up for 1200 points.

This week is Hydro Thunder Hurricane. There is already a thread regarding this one, which can be found here, if you like. I haven't checked it out yet, but reviews seem mostly favorable, and the original is a classic, so I hope this does it justice.

Pick it up for 1200 points.

August 4th brings us Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. There's a thread on this one as well. Graphics are questionable, but the multiplayer and zoom feature seem pretty cool. Here's hoping they haven't screwed up a long loved series.

August 11th brings us Monday Night Combat. I have no idea what the shit this is, but it makes me think the Team Fortress 2 guys decide to take up killing for sport inside the ENCOM mainframe. Hell, I don't know, it actually looks kinda cool.

Lastly, August 18th brings us a new Tomb Raider game, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. I've never been much of a TR fan, but this one looks to play in a whole new style, so I might as least check out the demo. I'm always up for co-op, so that's a plus.

Only one I'll probably get is Castlevania... but I'm saying that before I try out the Limbo demo that's waiting for me to try it out.

Limbo is good - I think you would like it. Not sure what all's in the demo, though. $15 is a bit steep, but I think it's worth it.

Looks like a great deal but it's too bad my 360 RROD'ed for the second time only 1 month out of warranty. Bullshit, I sincerely hate Microsoft for releasing such a POS system.

I bought Limbo and I'm really enjoying it.

I am picking up all of these. Lara croft looks like zombie apocolypse but you run through levels and not just an area. Hydro thunder is classic, and limbo is awesome. Castlevania kicks ass. Monday night combat is ehh but I might pick up

I would pick this up if I had an 360,but I'm opting for the ps3 instead.I'm so behind on game console purchases.... :(

You might as well since you'd get it for free if you were getting the rest anyway. I played the HT demo and wasn't terribly impressed. I think if a sequel had come out 3-5 years ago, I would have jumped on it. On the fence for Lara Croft and MNC. Will need to check reviews for both and if I get those then I'll get HTH as well since it'd be free.

Either way, I can't get enough Limbo right now.

Let me change my earlier statement about MNC.

It's Team Fortress 2 meets Tower Defense. Which really isn't so bad. I like it.

Let me know if you want to get some co-op going.

I've had a mic since the day I got my system... I think I was without one for a but yes, I have one.

I think I remember that, but I don't recall why. Either I was out of town and didn't take one with me or mine was all jacked up. There was a while there that the one I used was effed up to the point where I couldn't really hear out of it. I have like two more now, though :p

sounds like you need a pair of Turtle beaches. Worth every penny trust me. Hows it going for you with Limbo? I love it!!!

Long done with it. Well, I still need to beat it in one sitting with fewer than 5 deaths for the last achievement, but other than that, I'm done :) great game.

new tomb raider got game of the month in game informer. I wanna pick it up, seems like zombie apocolypse with scrolling levels!

I'm downloading the demo right now.

Edit: Yeah, it's pretty cool. Definably the best TR game I've ever played (never been a fan). It's like any other overhead shooter type game, but with fewer enemies and more puzzles. Co-op would probably be pretty interesting. I will likely be buying the full version.
