So they just announced it and it'll let you buy collect and build your own virtual game room for avatar playing etc. I think you may be able to link with other XBL friends to play multiplayer games.

The thing that I think will be an odd benefit is to drive away folks from collecting and to drive down prices of vids. I can only hope. In the bay area some guys still think that non-mint Defenders are worth $1000

Thoughts?

IMHO It's a lame ass idea. "MOST" kids couldn't give two shits less about "our" games let alone even know what Donkey Kong is ;)
So why would Mickeysoft expect this to be a big seller? I think they'll find out differently.

Their winner is the NATAL - that will be the bread winner for MS 4th 1/4.

Actually most arcade games are available now on XBOX live for a small fee. So they already know it will sell. This just makes the menu that you use to select the games you play more interactive, and 3D.

So instead of seeing a line of text that says Galaga - 3 friends to play. You see a 3D machine in a virtual room with 3 avatar friends.

The problem kids today have is that a collection of CDs, DVDs or Video Games is reduced to saying I have 100gb of this or that. There is no physical showpiece to show off. So this will give them a virtual world that they can invite friends over and show off.

Then other kids get jealous because Tommy has 20 games in his game room and he only has one. So he begs mom and dad for more $$...

Sounds weird I know, but it also sounds familiar...

Ohhh and don't forget us Atari, intellivision, and colecovision kids, who are in their 40s and have XBOX360s & PS3 and still love the classics.

Some games don't translate over well at all. Tron is awful...anything with a spinner is awful. Probably won't cost them much money at all, so even if only a few bite, they'll still profit.
