Tonight I'm checking my email and notice I have 2 from Xbox Live. One was for a 40 point "transfer" the other is to approve a password change.
I immediately call my 12 year old downstairs. "Did you change the password for the account?"
"Um, yeah dad my account got hacked."
After grilling him he tell's me that he gave out the account info because someone was going to "mod" his character for a game and now he can't log in to his gamertag".
*FACEPALM*
I have been over this crap with both of my kids so many times. Why Why Why am I dealing with this?!?!!?!?
They transfered his remianing points (no other gamertag showed) and his Live gamertag was "invalid"
After trying for 30 minutes to "recover" his gamertag and changing passwords again, I called customer support.
I was on hold for less than 3 minutes and the AMERICAN woman I spoke to was extremely helpful (she sounded cute as hell too)
Account is suspended and should be resolved in 25 business days after they do a fraud investigation. Which is fine, he'll be grounded off of it for much longer than 25 business days. (She could have fed me a giant pile of crap, but it sounded legit).
Thankfully, I have a friend that works for MS and she gets us Xbox Live memberships for like $25 a year. I removed my CC from the account months ago.
I'm pretty disappointed in my son. Once upon a time, I was a network security guru. I thought I had educated my family enough. I did go easy on him though, he's 12, I get it.
