Any info on this module..
I have done a klov search..

symptom is all blue no video..
It has good sound..
I hear it may be the a board...or the video chip
via a google search.. is it common to try and repair or replace only
with another used one.because the company is out of business..
If all else fails then i can maybe find a x-men XXX

I know its a old systems 2
just looking for a solution!

usually the all blue screen is symptomatic of it suiciding. if you're hearing game sound but just have a blue picture though, that's interesting.

I would encourage just separating the A and B boards and inspecting the pins in the sockets, making sure none of them are bent or something. these usually build up a lot of dust too (from the cooling fan), so as long as you're gonna do that, I'd say get out the security torx (forget if it's a T25 or T27) and crack it open and give it a blowing out too.

maybe you'll get lucky upon reseating the boards back together and get it to all work again too. check for any dust/dirt lodged in the sockets too.

if the suicide battery's never been changed as well, I encourage you change it. instructions exist online via CPS2Shock on how to do it. I already know you're a handy guy, you can solder two battery wires. :p

You can download a ROM image for doing a test of a cart from the http://www.cps2shock.com web site.

Program it then put it in the 03 socket on the cartridge board and see if it boots. If it does then the cart is working.

If the cart still isn't working after reseating then it most likely has suicided, but check for bent pins on the cart and the A board. (I say cart because different regions have some male connectors on the cart where the USA version has only female connectors)

If the cart is dead and the suicide check ROM doesn't work then the cart is probably suicided but hasn't lost all of the encryption key so it's in limbo. If that happens, reprogram the 03/04 ROMs with the suicide free code, remove the battery, and with the power OFF (and the battery removed) short the 2 leads of the capacitor sitting near where the battery + lead was connected. This will drain off all power from the cap and cause the NVRAM table with the decryption key to be totally lost. The cart should then work iwth the suicide test chip and with the phoenix (suicide free) ROMs.

I've had a few that were stuck in that limbo state before.

I know that X-MEN: COTA is a CPS2 game; however, I have a bad CPS1 system board that plays whatever game I pair it up with--all in BLUE. ;)

Sound works fine, controls work fine, but the system board just suffers from Smurfits. :D
