I have a 4 player x-men cab that I have been trying to sell and it was working fine last week. Just had a guy come by to look at it and all of a sudden there is no sound?

I have tried adjusting in menu, etc and no luck. How can i fix this?

I would say it's either the power supply's +12 is no longer working or the game pcb has a problem. With X-Men and some other Konami boards, there is a large, black, custom sound chip near the upper right corner of the board. There are capacitors under that black epoxy coating and many have started to leak and cause damage to that chip. :( unfortunately it's a common problem with games that use that chip, but it might be possible to fix it. One option is to take a chip off of another board or to scape off the black coating and repair it that way. I don't have the link offhand, but there's a website that shows how it can be done.

Those hybrid chips are a bitch. If the capacitor goo hasn't reached the pin on the sides of the hybrid then you stand a chance at repairing it. If they have, then toss in the towel.

There are traces and components on the bottom side of the hybrid that you'd have to run a bunch of jumpers to. Not worth it when that happens.

Can someone elaborate on this sound issue? Perhaps a link to the website someone mentioned? I've a TMNT PCB that has fuzzy sound on occassion and I am wondering if this is related since the games are similiar? (I think anyway?)
