Hi,
I just picked up my first X-men six player from Deadpool66 and am just trying to get it back together again after the move.

When I bought it he said that the rear 25" k7000 (the one in the rear box) displayed dark and needed some work. He gave me a backup monitor and board he said that just put on a new cap kit, but hadn't reassembled the monitor. Since I had the help with me, I tried putting the replacement monitor back together and installing it.

Something isn't working right and the replacement monitor isn't powering on (not even a neck glow). The weird thing is that now the machine's other monitor isn't firing up either (although it has a neck glow).

I plan to look through the "common k7000 issues - common repairs" thread to see what I did wrong hooking it up, but my question to the group is whether anybody knows if in a x-men 6-player if one monitor is dead, will the other monitor come up at all or do both monitors need to work to display an image?

If the game should display only when both monitors are connected and have power, then I can assume that I didn't hook up the replacement monitor correctly.

If the game should display regardless if both monitors are connected, then there might be a connection problem on the main PCB.

Thanks for the help

Pete

If only one monitor is plugged in there should still be a picture. Check the isolation transformers make sure the quick connects didnt come undone the monitor wont fire up if its not connected through the iso. I would also check all connections on the monitors to make sure nothing came loose during transport. Are you getting sound from the speakers?

I'm getting full sound - I can hear the full teaser loop - just can't see anything on either the left monitor (which had been working before the move) or the new right replacement monitor.

I'm not sure I'm getting power to the right monitor. I may not have hooked the monitor board up correctly.

But I thought it was odd that I wouldn't still get a picture on the left working monitor.

The game will output video, whether it's connected to a monitor or not.

The other monitor could have simply failed, or perhaps you knocked the video connector out, or didn't plug it in correctly when you moved something else around. To check the left monitor (the one with neck glow), turn up the SCREEN control on the flyback - you should get a white/gray raster. If you don't, then something is wrong with the monitor.

The monitor that's dead - check to be sure you're getting power to it, and, if you are, check the fuse. If it's blown, you probably need a flyback/HOT.

Do these monitors have the old style white knob flybacks? If so, you should replace them... while you're at it, do the caps too.

I already replaced the flyback on the k7000 along with the caps and the hot.

Any progress on this? have you checked the fuse. If you need more help shoot me a pm.

Hi Robert.
I'm getting ready for a trip this weekend, so I won't be able to look at it until Monday. I was hoping to have it working for a neighborhood block party next Saturday. I'll shoot you a note on Monday if I'm still having trouble.

Thanks,
Pete

Looks like some sort of freak coincidence - once both monitors were repaired, everything is as good as new.

Nice pics or it didn't happen ;-)

I would also recommend recapping the audio chip on the pcb to.

Did you do anything with the audio chip on this board? I had seen that you tried repairing the audio on a 6-player, but I wasn't sure if it was this one. Looks complicated - have any kits been created or do I have to do it from scratch?

I didn't attempt to recap the one I sold you as it was working when I bought it. I attempted to fix the original that came with the cab but to no avail the sound was already out on the original.

Prairied1ll0 could recap it for you he does top notch work.
