I have yet to play xmen but have played the simpsons and am addicted to it. Is xmen as fun or not? Trying to decide which cab to get. Your opinions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

I prefer X-men. You have more character options, better music, and better game play in my opinion. Of course, if you love the Simpsons game than that is the one you should get...

If they are in similiar shape and such, I would get a simpsons cab. Then you can just swap out the boards for both.

I have owned both. Simpsons seems to go for more. I have gotten 4 player Xmen cabs in good shape for $100 and $200 before.

Yeah! For these games you really have to go with your instinct as they are all pretty similar. Good news is you can swap boards pretty easily with the other Konami games. With X-Men you might have more options with switching as it uses three buttons. With a Simpsons cab you can swap in TMNT and Sunset Riders.

For me it's TMNT and the Simpsons but I will agree that X-Men has great gameplay and a good soundtrack. I just never grew up around the X-Men.

If I were to grade them on categories in comparison with each other and other games alike, I feel X-Men is the better game to have:

Simpsons

Gameplay/Fun Factor - 8/10 - This brings back memories and the gameplay is a little more fun than X-Men in that the levels and characters are more animated and exciting. Plus, being able to do a special double-team move with another player is awesome.

Cabinet Art - 8/10 - Very cool art if you're a fan of the The Simpsons, but a little too cartoony for me if I were to have it in my gameroom. It may add some uniqueness, but it wouldn't look right unless someone had more of a variety.

Versatility (swapping similar JAMMA games) - 7/10 - Can only swap out with other 2-button games unless you drill an extra hole and add another button, but that's forbidden. So you can't play X-Men on a Simpsons cabinet.

23/30

X-Men

Gameplay/Fun Factor - 7/10 - It brings back memories as well and like many have said, playing on the dual-screen 6P multiplayer beast cabinet is pretty fun. But it gets pretty redundant and boring at times if you're playing 1-2P.

Cabinet Art - 10/10 - Of course, this art is cartoony as well, but it a cooler way. I mean, come on, it's X-Men. It's more manly art than The Simpsons IMO. The 4P cabinet and 6P cabinet are both show pieces.

Versatility (swapping similar JAMMA games) - 10/10 - Can swap out all the 2-3 button games of similar nature (Sunset Riders, TMNT, etc.)

27/30

I agree with eseyo1 on the ratings. But, Jess, how could you not think the Simpsons cab would fit best in with your nintendo cabs? Seems like that Baby blue color and cartoon character art would go hand in hand with nintendo cabs you got. :)

I guess I didn't think about it in terms of color. I guess it wouldn't look bad. I don't know, maybe because I was thinking of how awesome the X-Men cabinet looks. And I stopped being a fan of the Simpsons after like Season 8. Anyone else think the Simpsons is not that funny anymore?

Good point, sir, but I would still go with an X-Men cab. Haha.

Oh yeah, Simpsons suck hard now. They remind me of Garfield comic strips. Way past their prime.
X-men is for sure way better done on the arts/ colors.

I love both games, but would have to give a slight edge to X-Men. Even so I love em both so much I have a 6 player X-Men and a Simpsons I restored.

Never really played Simpsons that much. I am sure its a great game. Both will suck the quarters right out of your pocket. But Xmen is the winner hands down for me. Its a great game, has great characters. And you have to consider that the players use the full jamma 3 button layout. So you can swap in Simpsons, TMNT, Sunset Riders, TMNT II, Spider Man, Avengers. From what I have seen, they all use about the same kick harness for players 3 and 4. So get the one you don't have to drill holes to play the other boards. But hey, that's just my 2 bits.

X-men all the way

Yes I totally agree. The others have fewer buttons so I could never get myself to drill out another hole for the 3rd Xmen button. That's just wrong. Boards that I would get for a dedicated X-men 4P cab are:

The Simpsons
TMNT either of them
Sunset Riders
GI Joe

There's a bunch of other ones too
Cow Boys of Moo Mesa
Captain America and the Avengers (data east, but supports the same harness)
...

Sega Spiderman is System32 and it's can't use the Konami Harness. It is compatible with Golden Axe RoDA. They also have Player start buttons vs the Konami machines that don't have a start button.

This is why I ultimately went with a 4-player X-Men cab instead of a Simpsons cab for my multi-4-player Konami project.

I'd add WWF Wrestlefest, TMNT Turtles in Time, and maybe Captain Commando to that list.

Thanks for posting this. I noticed two errors I made:

And yes, Wrestlefest is a great game. My older brother and I would play that all the time. He would be Hulk Hogan and I'd be Ultimate Warrior. "Gorilla Press!"

Can any one confirm that the Capcom CPS1 games like Captain Commando, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Warriors of Fate, Muscle Bomber Duo etc... does use the Konami 10 pin 3P/4P harness?

I didn't know that these series of games could be used in my TMNT also.
