Just picked up a 4 player X-men cab today. Game looks great, clean and in amazing shape inside and out. The seller (who doesn't know a lot about arcades) told me that a friend of his who looked at it said there's a wiring issue. I looked inside and everything looked fine, no broken/hacked up wires. He plugged it in, and the monitor made a slightly louder than normal hum, had a whitish screen with a dark gray gradient band going from about halfway up to the bottom of the monitor. No attract sounds or anything. I checked the sync cable and it looked okay.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this error before, but for the life of me I have no idea what it is. I tried a spare X-men board I already had and it did the same thing.

Any ideas?

Quick update...solved the banding issue to the sync cable (which I figured). The screen comes up solid white, doesn't coin up, no attract sounds etc. I tested the board that came with it in my other JAMMA cab and it worked fine.

One thing I've never seen before is this connector bundle, running between the switching power supply's MOLEX and the JAMMA harness MOLEX. It has two Dale 10 ohm resistors running between the connector's MOLEXs. The board seems to be getting power, because as soon as I pull the sync line completely off the monitor, or disconnect the edge connector from the board, the screen goes dark.

Attached are some pics, maybe someone else can help figure out whats going on.

Not a good way to start off posting here, insinuating someone asking for assistance is trolling, especially when they're post count is nearly 500. Ironic.

The voltages are normal. +12.2, +5.3 across the board. As stated earlier, I've double checked the boards in my other JAMMA cab, both of them coin up fine.

I was meaning my post, cheers. Checking voltages is 101 and you hadn't mentioned it, could have easily caused the issue you were mentioning. With 500 posts I was sure you would have tested, hence me sounding like i'm trolling.

My apologies lol, I misinterpreted the post. I've checked the edge connector to make sure the tines aren't broken or damaged, they also look okay. I haven't gone through and done continuity checks on all the wires to make sure one isn't broken underneath the insulation...was hoping to avoid that as a last resort.

The issue as you describe it makes it sound like the PCB isn't running - no sound, no picture. Besides 5 & 12V, check ground as well. Your voltages are on the high end, I wouldn't run over 5.1v myself unless it was a large PCB (in which case I would check voltage at IC level). Wouldn't hurt to throw a non-Xmen PCB in there and see if the issue continues as well.
