X-Men 4 player blue top Wico joystick length issues!!!

Well, a while back I was talking about my X-Men 4 player arcade, and realized the blue 3.5" replacement Wico joystick balltop and shaft was slightly higher. I found out it was a replacement as the original was damaged. Fine.

So I went out and sourced a 2.5" Wico blue top joystick thinking maybe that was the match. Got it, compared it, and nope way too short.

Now I have no idea what to do. The 2.5" Wico replacement stick is too short, and the 3" Wico replacement stick is too tall.

I have attached a pic of the original red stick next to the two replacements, and it is in between length. Jeeeez.

Does anyone know where I can get an original or replacement Wico blue top stick that is the correct height, because this is puzzling to say the least??

The original, being the red and other colors are inbetween. Im tellin ya, this is strange.

I guess the only way I will find out is if anyone has another original X-Men and compares.

the blue stick you have in the middle there looks like the ball is slightly larger (if so i'm gonna say aftermarket/repro/knockoff.

You are correct, the balltop is slighly larger. So its a knock off. that would explain the freakin reason why its off in size. Jeez.

Would you happen to have a 3" Blue Wico stick? Any extra's lying around? lol.

hmm possibly, i'll check tonight. I was looking for a dark blue 4" a while back and i think i got a 3-3.5" at one point.

Broodwich, I did make a mistake. It is supposed to be a 4" blue Wico. The originals red top in the pic is about 1/8" shorter than 4" and they are the original Wico's that came with the X-Men, and the blue replacement is about 1/8" longer than 4" and as you mentioned, the ball top is slightly larger.

Do you have a blue original Wico stick that is about 1/8" less than 4", if so, that is the correct one I need.

Let me know what you find.

I've got an extra dark blue joystick shaft that's 4" in length.
It took me forever to find them.
If you want it I need to get $45 shipped for it.
It is not easy to come by these days.
If not ill hold on to it.
Let me know if your interested.

Ay yay yay, thats pricey. Let me sleep on it. Can you measure the length of the metal part to confirm its the right length, about 1/8" less than 4".

Here are pictures of the joystick shaft with a tape up next to it.
You be the judge.
Let me know either way.

Konami used 3.5" sticks in CP's that were routed for the stick bases, and 4" in ones that were not. My guess is they ran out of one or the other at some point.

Many of us who own/owned TMNT cabs figured this out, as it was a "No it had X size joystick!" argument for awhile, and we all most certainly had factory panels.

Probably be easier to get your hands on 3.5" sticks(Looks like you already have one), so if your panel isn't routed and you have/can borrow a router, I would route spots for the bases.
