I have been looking at pinball machines on ipdb and came across x-files pinball by sega, it looks interesting and before I start looking for one I was just wondering if anyone has played it or owned it and if it is any good. Also are parts for it still available?

Might want to go read some reviews on IPDB, or RGP it usually gets ripped on pretty good. I've never played it myself, but one comment I've read was:

"It's as much fun to play off as it is on"

Here's a good one from IPDB:

"What a crying shame - a waste of a great licence and probably one of the worst pinballs produced by a company looking to make cheap pins, devoid of anything of interest, proving that Sega were pulling the plug. It's just so ugly, it reminds me of those home toy machines you can pick up for a few dollars, just on a bigger scale. I have played this pin many times thinking I would start to enjoy it but it is just SO dull. I have given many chances, but alas it just shows you that not everyone was a good pin manufacturer. If you needed a reason as to why pinball died, look no further than this machine. A monster."

only played 2 games on it when i was down at the place that sells pinball games
wasnt very impressed
they also had a WHEEL OF FORTUNE and that game was waaaaay more fun.

when i went back a few days later i went straight to the WHEEL OF FORTUNE again

i guess i might buy an X-FILES maybe, if i ran across it and i could get a good deal. but i wouldnt seek one out

theres about 10 games id buy before that one

I'd own one if it was free. No way would I feel good about buying one. Had one show up around here for ~$800 and it sat there for a looooong time. I love X-files but I have to agree with that IPDB review - truly a waste of a license.

It's pretty terrible, but amazingly, I know a few casual players that like it.

It's basically the Hudson Hawk or Ishtar of pinballs.

I plan to buy one if the price is right, but only because I'm a huge fan of the X-Files.

There was one on CL locally a few days ago for $500 ...as shitty as that game is, I was tempted to call only because someone I work with is the biggest X-Files fan of all time, and I know they'd like it no matter what. ...but, I didn't. The ad was gone pretty quickly....even a game with a shitty reputation is "good" if the price is right! I guess that's why I like my Goldeneye...hehe. :)

If one fell in my lap for a song, I'd get it. Big fan of the show, and the wife and I have been working through the whole show over the last year or so. We're midway through season 6.

Agreed that the layout is not great, but to me as an X File fan I do enjoy it. You got to admit the ramps are tight and require dead on shots, kind of like on Bride of Pinbot.
