¡Hola, KLoV brothers! I'm on the fence about a possible deal, and wanted some input...

Another local collector (Scott -- a great guy who I just recently met) has been wanting a Dragon's Lair, and when he found out I had one and that I also had always wanted a Freddy pin, he asked me if I wanted to trade straight-up: His Freddy pin for my Dragon's Lair. I explained to him that even though I had around $700 in the machine (it was a "Choplifter" conversion when I bought it -- with a bad monitor chassis and NO Lair parts at all), it was Daphne-based and wasn't running off of original hardware.

Naturally this changed the deal, and after several different offers and counter-offers, this is the final counter-offer that I received:

-------------------------------------------------------------
My Dragon's Lair (with repro sideart, repro CPO, repro scoreboard plexi, original marquee, Spaeth scoreboard, new Jen Shin monitor chassis, iPac, Arcade VGA, PC with Athlon XP 1600 CPU & 655mb RAM, framed Dragon's Lair promo poster and complete set of Dragon's Lair 3D action figures)

PLUS

My dedicated Double Dragon in very good condition with repro CPO (although with painted-over TAITO sideart)

PLUS

My early-run Joust (that could use a repainting) with repro CPO, switcher kit, and optical joysticks...

All for this:

Now, I can't say that I play these vids a whole lot anymore, but I'm fairly conflicted nontheless. I definitely want the pin and would surely play it more than I currently play those vids, but one second I feel like it's a fair trade to both parties, and then the next I start to think that maybe it might not be so great on my end.

This would be my very first pin and I've already had some helpful mentoring from RareHero and session9 (thanks guys!), but I was curious as to what you other pin pros thought?

From what you've shown me, I would place a value on your stuff at $1350, and $1250 for his.

It's not THAT bad of a deal on your end. And honestly, the fact that your DL is Daphne knocks it down to about even. It just feels off because you are giving up 3 things, and he is giving up one.

Sounds like a win to me.
you can gain 1 game you will play and free up more space for new games. dollar value can not be that much different.

Is the floor space for adding 2 games worth 100-200 bucks? if yes then giver

Just curious. Whos delivering what? Do you have to deliver the items or is he picking up? That could add a little value to the deal if hes doing all the moving.

Haven't worked those details out yet. Thankfully, though, we live fairly close to each other.

(That is SOOOO nice for a freaking change.)

Personally, I'd make the deal. Part of that is due to the fact that I'm a little pin crazy right now, but I still think you come out ahead on the deal. Also, pins seem to be holding value much better than vids over time, so you could probably get back out of the pin what you're giving up pretty easily.

I'd make the deal - but I don't really care for any of the vids you are getting rid of except for Joust, which is easily replaced. Do any of the machines you are trading off have any sentimental value to you?

I currently have no truck or trailer (and he does), so he's cool with providing the transportation. *cheer*

He's also given me the option of trading for the Freddy, or his nice Frankenstein: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mary-Shellys-Frankenstein-pinball-machine-WOW-NICE_W0QQitemZ170379494278

And since I was kinda keen on keeping my Double Dragon (for multigame purposes -- prolly multi-Williams), he said he'd if I was interested, he'd take my Operation Wolf and Xenophobe instead. Since I've been wanting to sell the Xeno for a while now, and grew tired of Wolf ages ago, I may go that route. So, yeah...that'd be 4 games for 1 pin, but it would be a nice pin and I'd gain some fresh room -- which I haven't had forever. :)

Yeah, Joust has a lot of sentimental value, as does Dragon's lair (even though I'll be the first to admit that as a "game" it's pretty shoddy.)

Double Dragon and Xenophobe has some lesser sentimental value, but the continue option just kills the re-playability of those games.

Operation Wolf...I have memories of it from back in the day, but it was never a favorite. In fact, I only bought it because it came as part of a lot that my old Ghosts 'n Goblins was in. And I only fixed it up and kept it all these years because it's always a hit at parties and get-togethers.

I would say you are getting the better deal solely because you can still play the vids on MAME but nothing compares to actually standing in front of a pinball machine.

I was thinking that, too. I figured if I needed a Joust fix, I would just fire up my Xbox 360 and play it on there. :)

And if I just HAVE to play Dragon's Lair, well...I hear good things about that new bluray.
