playing a game last night and a ball got stuck in the magnet at the upper play field.

all the lights went out except the under the play field lights. i waited for a minute and then shut off the game. turned the game back on,ball ejected and now it plays fine but on multi ball when you loose all but 1 ball it stays in multi ball mode and the macho madness light comes on and stays on throughout multi ball.it also is playing different music at start up than it was before and if diagnostic it does not test any flashers when you go into flash mode. any thoughts?

That game *is* possessed! There is no magnet in the upper pf. Poltergeists maybe?

Is that odd behavior repeatable? I'd start (as usual) with checking the various board connectors, unplugging and reseating them. Check fuses and look for any pinched wires etc.

(P.S. 'lose' not 'loose'!)

my wife called my today and said it was playing fine for her. i got home and played a game and it was back to normal. i told you it was possessed. anyway i will check all the connections etc. and the magnet i am speaking of is in the upper left corner of the mini play field. thanks for the tips and sorry about the spelling error.

You have a magnet there????? I feel ripped off!!!!!!!!! Curses!

I no longer have mine, but it didn't have a magnet in that location. It was a solenoid behind a small ramp/hump that kicked the ball back once it entered.

my bad. it acts similar to how a magnet acts.

Mine doesn't! It is tough to get a soft shot to stay in there, off the tip of the right mini-flipper. Everything seems to be properly adjusted too.

On a related subject, has anyone else seen lots of airballs from the mini-pf in RR? I can't pinpoint what causes them but I get them off of both sides. The diverters are a bit above the pf, flippers don't have extra play in them, flipper rubbers are on right, coils at normal power. I refer to these airballs as 'going over the top rope' but would like to eliminate them. The mini-pf shots are already hard enough! (Esp. the upper left kicker shot.)

i dont have airballs there. i just fixed the left flipper on mine. it was a little weak when i got it and got worse as time went on. last week i got around to looking at it.. i cleaned the linkage with q tips and now it works great. i was having lots of airballs on my lw3 until i got it level. could this be the issue?mine is on carpet in a converted garage so the floor there is not level.just a thought.

Mine has what feels like the right slope to it. I had also taken out the flippers and diverters (when removing the mini-pf) and cleaned the coil mechs, etc. Raised the right diverter a bit with a couple of washers under the e-clip on the diverter shaft; the left diverter was already raised like this. Play seems fine on the flippers, which are strong. Maybe they are a bit too strong? How would you weaken them just a bit? That could be the problem!

i have no idea on the upper flipper strength issue.im just happy i have mine running normal again. hopefully someone here has an answer to that question.
