So I was playing Driven (GameCube) the other day - close-up on a 29" monitor in a cab. After a few minutes, I had a splitting headache. It lasted all night and into the next morning. That doesn't leave me feeling very manly. The advent of 3D games and even some 2D games where the background and foreground move independently made it so that every once in a while, gaming gave me headaches or made me feel a little wonky. In fact a couple of months ago, I wrote about it on my blog.... (and there's a poll there now to indicate if it happens to you)...

But, my poll notwithstanding, anecdotal evidence here would be much more fun to read... So, has a game ever made you feel crappy or even nauseated? Be a man and admit it here.

I get headaches when I play some of the first person type of games, Mostly on the PS3. Examples are the game Wet, Wanted and sometimes even GTA can trigger them. I try to limit my playing time to about an hour tops before taking a break. at the first sign I shut the whole system down, as they can last from hours to days.

Don't ever get an N64 then. Some of those games might make your head split right in two.

I'm not a big fan of Super Cobra or Scramble. The horrible color pallettes, scrolling spacefield, and coarse sounds kind of make me nauseous.

Some FPS games make me sicker than a dog.

I can't read in a moving car without getting sick to my stomach.

..but roller coasters, major airplane turbulence, boating and the tilt-a-whirl are fun for me.

I am the same way. If I read more than a sentence in a car, I am done.

I can't play Portal for more than a minute; just makes me dizzy and a bit nauseous. I never could play Spyro either.

I can't handle Star Wars or ESB in a cockpit. The last time I played one I literaly had to roll out onto the floor to avoid puking.

I think it must be the CFLs:p

I also get sick from first person shooters. I was never able to get into the Halo games, Call of Duty, etc because I usually felt like barfing after about 30 minutes.

GTA doesn't bug me for some reason, and I never had an issue with Resistance or the Star Wars Battlefront games.

The color pallette of "Best of the Best" for NES literally made me gag. I mean seriously I would sit there on the verge of a dry heave just looking at it. In-fact I'm getting a little queazy just typing this and thinking about it.

Motion games don't make me sick, although I have a friend who can't stand them. They can't even watch me play Quake for more than 5 seconds without having to lie down.

Moon Patrol's scrolling background used to bother me but it doesn't anymore. I must have overcome it because I like the game so much. Now, if I only had a Moon Patrol.

Cool, if I understand correctly you have a gamecube in an arcade cabinet? KLOV loves projects like this, you should definitely show us some pics.

It's actually being emulated on Dolphin. Running Hyperspin as a front end.

Try to get some good pics...

ive never gotten sick from a game,I can play for hours and hours with no problem. BUT my virtual boy would give me a headache without a break.

For me games like CAll of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Halo, etc are all no good for me. I get sick to my stomach after I plat for a bout an hour. The odd things is I can sit there and watch someone else play all day long though.

Better stay away from the VSS Modular Dome Screen from Virtual Simulation Systems.

I've seen a demo that included 360 degree view, LED lighting, surround sound, ability to physically walk in any direction to control the game, paint ball guns setup to feel gun fire...

But this would make me sick too...

Im looking at getting a beach head 2002 with the virtual helmet and 360° view, maybe this weekend it should be awesome.

I've played just about every FPS made. I have played Halo for about 10 years now, no problems.

The one game that made me the sickest was Metroid Prime for the Gamecube. About 30 minutes to an hour and I'm feeling sick. Never did finish it.
