I've been considering picking up a juke and a Wurlitzer 2800 series popped up locally. The description does not mention whether it works or not. What would the price range be for working vs non-working on this juke? Is this a decent juke to purchase? How is the sound quality? It sure is an ugly little bugger...

We had a 2900 series on our route back in the day. I was not impressed. It had a puny 20 watt amplifier and early primitive transistors. Sound quality was below par.

I don't know if a 2800 was any good, but I know from experience on the 2900's.

At one time I owned a 1700 and it was great. After recapping the amplifier it sounded fantastic! It had a tube amplifier.

One thing to watch for in the models 2800 through the 3300 was leaking fluorescent lamp ballasts. Wurlitzer used some ballasts that leaked PCB's all over everything in the jukebox.

Just got an email from the guy. The juke works... and it comes with 70 records ranging from the 40's to the 70's...

I asked about the size of the amp.

He wants $400.

Opinions?

Welp... dude didn't know the wattage of the amp. He did attach an image of the serial plate though... it's a 2800 for sure. Google brings me to a bunch of manual links for purchase...
