Hey all, I'm Danny and new guy here. I have a 1963 Wurlitzer #2710 and I'm having problems with the lock solenoid sticking. I've cleaned it with contact cleaner and that will free it up for about 5 plays then it sticks again. I've had the jukebox for 8 years and up till this summer it worked great. I oiled the linkage the solenoid is attached to also. So my question is Does anyone have a fix for this? Can I get a new lock solenoid from a supplier? Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

-Danny

Corrections for Wurly 2710 problems

Ok so I said in my first post that it was the lock solenoid that was sticking. It's actually the preset solenoid. I can with my hand move it and lock it into place and then make a selection and it'll will cycle through normally but I still have to manually "set" the solenoid. Now it worked fine for years, then it starting "missing every now and then , I could give a bang with my hand to the top of the selector mech and it would lock but now I can't even do that . So anyone work on these things here??

Why did you use contact cleaner. Thats part of the problem. The heavy arcing on that switch after the contact spray has screwed up contact. The spray and the arcing causes a chemical change and screws up the contact points. You need to get a ladies emery board and buff the contacts. I own a 2610 which did this and I buffed the contacts and this fixed it. I fix EM pinball machines all the time and contact cleaner is the worst thing you can do to contact points.

NEED PICS! Red Hot Solenoid! HELP!

Ok So I cleaned the contacts and adjusted them to what I think the shop manual says to do. So now I can get it to work again except now the Pre Set solenoid gets hot. like red hot. So something isn't quite right? Does anyone have a pic of the "Control Swtich" contacts or a shot of the pre-set/ lock solenoid setup on there Wurly jukebox ( I would think a 24,25,26,or 28 hundred series would be close). I just really need to see or know how that control swtich should look like in a functioning setup. If this helps, when I bought the juke it was setup for free play, and half of the coin mech was gone. I don't know how it's rigged for free play but like I said when I got it you would turn on the machine the select light lights up and stayed on all the time. and it worked great. now I have adjusted the contacts so it's like it was before except now the pre set solenoid gets red hot. I DO not remember how the control swtich contacts were adjusted before I messed with them ( shoulda taken a pic) but I do know that it looks like there are 2 sets of contacts and one by it's self (2 always touching and one open until for select a record then it makes contact to reset the selector....I believe. I really need a pic or the correct on why my pre set solenoid get red hot.

thanks!

Hi,

What would you recommend to clean the contacts?
