Putting out the feelers. Anyone with a Space Ace interested in trading for a Robotron? Obviously, I'd have to kick in some cash- so I'd prefer a conversion to minimize cost on my end. I'm in AZ, so the closer the better.

PM me if interested.

David

Dave if you do that trade we'll have to change your avatar to this:

Hahahahaha.

Seriously though, what's a fair price for a Space Ace (conversion and dedicated) and what do you think is fair on Robotron? My Robotron is unrestored, but pretty damn nice.

Dave I don't keep up with what Space Ace and other laserdisc games go for actually. You might want to ask over the DLP website: Dragon's Lair Project.

As for Robotron I'd say at least $500. The nicer shape the cab, monitor, etc. are in would definitely increase that as well.

Thanks. I was thinking about $600 for Robotron and $800-1000 for a Space Ace conversion, depending on condition.

That avatar is awesome, lol.

I'm just saying don't get rid of Robotron, period ;)

I hate to say I told you so, Dave, but... The audience has spoken.

Please trust me on this one. You will regret getting rid of Robotron. And those dumb laserdisc / choose-your-own-adventure type games get old really, really fast.

Now, if you have some awesome childhood connection to Space Ace, then by all means. Please think of the (lack of) replay value.

I have to agree with Jawhn (wait, WHAT??!!)

If I still had a Space Ace, I'd trade even up. It was fun, but gets old REALLY fast.

That's my opinion, but I'd play Robotron over Space Ace every time if both were available.

Think carefully before you do this :) Ultimately it's your game, and your decision, but I think you'd be dissapointed in the long run.

For the first time ever, I wish I had a Space Ace right now. I have only seen one robotron locally, and he wouldn't sell.

...

I like both Robotron and Space Ace. But just because you like Robotron better doesnt make SA less valuable :) I sold a space ace last year for $1900. Ever since the multiwilliams hit, Robotron has taken a hit in value.

space ace

I actually have both. I love both. I believe the space ace would win though. Robotron is great. But the vision of space ace in the game room next to my dragon's lair in attract mode is priceless.!

How much do DL/SA cabs running Daphne typically run? The emulation is pretty spon-on with those, right? That might be something else I'd consider. I'd also consider a Dragon's Lair, but I'd prefer Space Ace (I'm more of a sci-fi guy than a medieval guy).

I dont know - a daphne cab just isnt the same, no matter how close they came to reproducing the beauty of the original cabs. Nothing like running it on the original hardware.

IMO Dragons Lair is a much better game. Fatherpain has a Really nice one available - you can always pick up that one and get the kit to convert to a SA (disc, marquee, chips, control panel).
