WTF Really??? Custom Cases

I agree with you fine gentlemen, but I will say that he has sold a ton of those so someone out there wants them.

I use shock boxes for my neogeo MVS games and EA genesis cases with custom inserts for my Atomiswave games. That's not much different then this guy so I guess it makes sense to me. Neither of my two examples had regular cases to begin with, but I sure do like the idea of a way to store and display those games while protecting them.

Shock box art make sense to me as their was not originally anything. If their was is news to me.

I love these things. Kinda wish there was a nice way to store arcade pcbs. I just got mine in anti static bags wrapped in bubble wrap. :-/

It makes sense for Neo-Geo, Atomiswave, SF-V, etc. Well, to some it does anyway (myself included). I think what Jake is saying is that why do this for games that originally came with boxes? I can see that...I mean, at least for me, if I had one game in a box like this (assuming they're nice), then I'd have to have all my games in boxes like these. Perhaps that's what this guy is hoping for...I suppose if I had a small collection, they'd look nice on a shelf with everything else, but I have no interest in these, myself.

For the collector who has to have anything...console collectors are like Pokemon Trainer's, gotta catch em all, no matter how stupid the price is. :p

I was one, I had every console in existence at one point, till I got I got rid of all my stuff because I realized it was nothing but hoarding and a huge waste of space and money.

If you want to put your boxes and manuals away to keep them in good shape, while still being able to play the game, these make sense.

I've also seen them for Saturn. Its fine for Saturn, SegaCD and PSOne Longboxes because they are not made anymore, also for any cardboard boxed games like NES, SNES or later Genesis/32X since its getting harder to find those in good condition. That's one of the things Sega got right with SMS and Genesis games, those plastic cases pretty much can last a lifetime.

I'm still happy I picked up a couple dozen empty long boxes several years ago.

I could see it if I'd bought loose carts and wanted my colletion on display, I'd buy something like that to put them in. I'm in fact giving thought to shockboxes for my MVS carts (so far I've got them in USPS smallish priority mail boxes, which is at least better than a stack of carts on a shelf)

Personally I buy loose carts because they are cheap and I just want to play the games. So all I need are some shoeboxes and I'm good.

To each his own.

A couple years back I had a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night PSone game that came to me in the mail with a PS2 sized case insert. It really threw me until I found out it was custom case art. I prefer original packaging for my console games.

I definitely need to get some EA Genesis boxes for when I can rebuild my ST-V collection. I really like the idea of shockboxes so I don't have to have them clinking around in a drawer.

Shock boxes are great. They are 8 bucks a pop but look great displayed out. I spent more on the shock box then I did on the game with a couple of them (fatal fury and world heroes). You can download the insert and print them off at kinkos for about a buck and they have real nice paper cutters to make good clean cuts. As far as getting EA cases the used game stores near me will sell just the cases to you for a couple dollars so you don't have to buy Tony Larusas baseball and throw it away :)
