What the hell do you have to do to get something off craigslist? Quit your job and sit at the computer and watch for ads. I have been looking for a Creature from the Black Lagoon pin for a while. Anyways I did not see the ad yesterday when I looked, but an ad was placed late afternoon for one in mint condition, 100% working for a steal at $2500 and less than an hour from my house. Sent an email today and believe or not actually got a response back, sorry sold. God dammit, that was a steal of a price on that pin.

Unfortunately I do not have a smart phone, really dont care about having a fancy phone. How do I set up email alerts through my computer?

I know how you feel. I've been looking for a pinball forever. Even before I started collecting games. Last month I was on a trip, 0 internet service. Two days when I get back, I see an CL ad about both a minty Xenon and Fireball pinball going for $300! Fricking $150 each!! I reply a fast as I could. Next day.... find my self staring at death-mail saying "Sorry they both sold, but thanks anyways!"

WTF!!

I know what you mean, there are some locals here(good guys mind you), that work earlier hours than I do. If a deal comes up during the day, they always beat me to seeing/buying it before I even have time to leave work. I'm always 2nd up or farther on deals here, lol.

Of course, now I'm to the point that it needs to be something I really want, and I'll need to sell one to make room for the other.

200 miles... pft... I drove almost 300 each way to pick up my battlezone. Mind you, it was from a member here, and not on craigslist, but still.

I think everybody is in the same boat. I found my pin on cl and drove 650 miles 1 way and got lucky no one snaked it from. You can find good deals. The problem is the cl asshole might sell it out from under you while your on your way to pick it up.

That's why I will never drive any significant distance to get a game on CL unless the seller lets me put some sort of deposit down to hold it,otherwise I'm not going to bother.

If you dont have a smart phone.. a computer works.
Setup an RSS feed notification.

Do a search on Craigslist and at the bottom of the page you
will notice an RSS button. Copy the link from that button
and sign up for a service like http://www.feedmyinbox.com.

I have the $5 plan which does searches every 15 mins
and emails updates to me.

It works really well. PM me with any questions.

I just recently switched over to Craigspro+ on my iphone.
Now I know in minutes after a post goes up:)

I've been scoring a lot off of CL lately. Mostly by being the first person to contact the seller. I don't have a smart phone, but I surf the internet constantly while at work. I usually check CL every hour or so. I have certain searches saved in my favorites for multiple cities nearby. Always checking the free section for my town, no matter what it is, it always goes fast. But I never have any luck selling on that damn thing.

When I'm at home I use Snarfer. I don't really bother to try and watch CL at work since I can't really just leave to go get something anyway. Like others I'm also at capacity anyway. :)

Around here there isn't much competition for stuff...with that said I am using a CL app for the Droid X.

I've picked up prob 6ish games in the last couple months at very fair prices including 3 Daytona sit downs last week from the same guy.

As you can see most of these guys use alert programs. I don't, I don't email asking about stuff. What I do is call the person I don't email asking about the item I ask for their # then I call them and talk face to face. I pretty much talk them out of selling it to the other people that emailed first. I think sometimes people would rather talk to the buyer to at least get an idea of who's buying it.
