That, or he would have responded to your ad, told you he had them, set up a time to buy it, and when you drive 1.5 hours to meet, he doesn't actually have it. (Personal experience with him on that one)

Most of the guys in the area I have met know of him, and he has the same reputation with them all.

He called his buddy during negotiations? I hate that kind of crap. If you're there prepared to buy, he should be dealing directly with you, none of this "phone a friend" crap.

I've outright interrupted sellers that take phone calls while I'm negotiating with them, so long as they're not personal (although that's rude unless it's an emergency), but especially if it's other buyers calling about the machine

I hope it works out where you're happy, but like other's have said, I'd be wary about buying a hacked up cabinet, everything else can be fixed but that's a tough one.

im pretty sure he knew i was coming to check out the games. beside, if he didnt want to sell them in the first place, why would he email me with a price? i was just trying to expedite the process

the funny thing is, his friend said (without missing a beat) "do it. sell the game. youd be stupid not to." unfortunately he didnt listen to his friends advice.

I might buy from Dustin, but he won't tell me where he lives unless I tell him what game I am interested in. Seriously. I just wanted to see what he has, but he insists he has to know what I want to look at first.

Also, if I ever do go to his house I will bring a fire extinguisher and a new power supply. "Oh, it was working before you pulled the power supply for another game? I just happen to have one in my van, let's try it out!"

i was never going to call out doug or intentionally turn this into a pitchforks and torches thread. in fact, ive heard great things about him and he was nothing but cordial when i was at his place. yes, i probably could have approached the situation with a little more tact than showing up at his place with a mutual friend, but i dont play games when picking up, well, games, especially grails. i just had to air my frustration when he made it known that he had the 2 games i wanted and gave me a price and (lets be honest) they werent really for sale in the first place.

doug, next time please make sure you are willing to sell a game before you give someone an asking price, since he just may be willing to pay...
