Ok, I have about had it with painting cabinets! The last several cabinets I have painted I have used Rustolium flat or satin black oil based or Behr interior latex. After several coats if you take your finger and rub it along the cabinet it produces a white residue. Has anyone else had this issue? Do I need more coats, a different paint, or seal it when I am done!

The last cabinet I actually primed it first then painted it and it still did the same thing.

Help in Ohio!!

I am rolling using a foam roller. The only thing I can think is the foam roller puts on to thin a coat of paint???

Never had a problem with Rustoleum oil based enamel. I thin it down 15% with acetone, if I want a semi gloss I mix in 15-30% flat. And spray away.

spray a clearcoat over it all. Oil based, water based.. all hogwash, use good paint and prep properly and the paint will work.

This exact same thing happened to me last week when I was painting my Time Soldiers. No clue on how to solve it!

Hmm, I moved my SF a week after I painted it, put the dolly under the side of it, had a towel draped between the dolly and the game, and where the towel rubbed the game left a white residue that wont come off either (BTW, NOT white towel)

yes, clearcoat it (I use the can type and brush it on) with 3 coats of Minwax Polycrylic ( i used the satin finish). I've never had the issue you're speaking of...is your area dry? It the humidity is low you shouldn't have issues.

Or use a good automotive paint or something like One Shot or Ronan and you won't have any problems at all. The last Rustomleum stuff in a white can I bought at Home Depot was not Enamel but a latex based paint so really have a good look at what you're buying these days. I've had problems like what you describe in the past qand it has always been with cheap latex based paint. You don't want Latex based paint unless you're painting a wall and dark latex flats mar far too easily to be used on a thing like a cabinet.
