Anyone make a harness to ease changing a RUSH 2049 to LCD ?

Thank you.
LTG :)

What does the video out connector look like on a 2049? Standard 5 in a row connector? (R,G,B,Grnd, Sync)

What type of LCD are you wanting to swap out? An arcade LCD or computer/tv LCD?

5 in a row connector. Which I thought weird because it is VGA to VGA.

Every LCD I've looked at that will fit has the computer VGA 15 pin on it, so I haven't thought beyond that.

Thank you.

I'm sorry, I made a mistake.

wires going up to the monitor in the game leave a Jama harness, go to a 6 pin connector
( 2 pins wide 3 pins high ) this goes up to a thin flat 6 pin connector on the next board.

The board side of the 6 pin connector has -
Pin 1 - Yellow wire with red stripe
Pin 2 - Yellow wire with green stripe
Pin 3 - Yellow wire with blue stripe
Pin 4 - Yellow wire with black stripe
Pin 5 - not used
Pin 6 - Yellow wire with white stripe

The monitor side of the six pin connector has -
Pin 1 - red wire
Pin 2 - green wire
Pin 3 - blue wire
Pin 4 - two wires, a yellow wire and a white wire
Pin 5 - not used
Pin 6 - two black wires

The neck board thin flat connector has in a row red, green, blue, black, black, yellow, white wires.

I hope that helps.

thank you.

Lloyd,
You should be able to run a VGA cable direct to the video card and get an image that way. This would bypass the rgb-sync wiring from the jamma harness, and will not be used.

Btw, I suggested LCD to Greg k when he picked up the 2049 manual at Allentown. I'm interested to see how it looks in a 2049 bezel. He was telling me how those pesky neotecs were giving you hell.

I'm a big fan of LCDs in games for commercial use. They make the games look more modern, and lighter as well. I just did an LCD in a Tokyo drift conversion, in a crusin USA cab. Pulled that old 7500 with massive burn in out of there, and it looks great.

When I bought my first 2049, it was wired that way (it had a monitor w/ a VGA connector on it). It worked, though came up with a vsync timeout error or something at startup. The game played just fine, but I ended up switching it back to stock wiring (which was still in the cab), then made an adapter from the standard connector to the VGA connector (with one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102601 ).

Thank you for your help Mike. I haven't worked on a video card before, this should be fun.

My 3 Neotecs in commercial use are at the self destruct age and I'm tired of dumping money into them and they don't last.

I appreciate your help,
Lloyd

See where the 2 black things plug into the board, to the left of the hard drive in the picture? That is actually one cord that loops from one part of the boardset to the other. You have to unplug one end (I "think" it is the one closest to the HD in the pic), and that is where you plug in the VGA cord from the LCD monitor.

Or you could do what Dog P says. That harness sounds like a fix as well.

Thank you Mike ! Picture is a big help. I found it in the game right away. Now to try a monitor and be sure things work and then get monitors and install.

I appreciate everyone who helped here.

Close, but the VGA cable from the LCD should plug directly into the video card, on the left :)

Also, be sure to test your LCD with the game before you mount it. Many LCDs will not work properly with these games.

LCD or LEDs made for pc's work great, because you can wire them in and they will boot with the game upon powerup (without having to push a power button on the monitor). Most television type monitors (like a consumer tv) won't power up unless you hit a button.

I used a Hanns-g 25" from staples for my last build. It cost 179.99 new.

No, you cant just hook the monitor to the video card like a vegas board. The main pcb needs to see the video coming into it or you will get errors. The most simple way is what dogp said, or its also possible to split the vga at the video card and send it to both the pcb and monitor.
Also you may have to change the dip settings, some 2049's came med res.

The splitter thing may be true, as I have never done this to 2049. As far as the resolution, if the neotecs are 2702's, they are VGA. If they are 2701 or 27e, that's mid res. I've had at least a dozen 2049 or 2049 se come through over the years, and they've all been VGA.

One more question and I really appreciate the help.

Getting a connector like Dog P suggested.

Pin 1 - Yellow wire/ red stripe
Pin 2 - Yellow wire/ green stripe
Pin 3 - Yellow wire/ blue stripe

What pin or pins does the Yellow wire/ black stripe and Yellow wire white stripe go to ?

Thank you !

It actually does work, but at startup, it gives an error about vsync. Nothing that affects gameplay, but I assume there's probably some vsync interrupt or timing thing that doesn't happen.

Yellow/Black is Ground, and Yellow/White is Composite Sync. So, for the VGA connector, that should be Ground to pin 5 and Composite Sync to pin 13. If it has problems, you may want to also connect the ground to pins 6, 7, 8, and 10... though they're probably internally connected on the monitor. And this also assumes that your monitor can handle Composite Sync (not needing seperate Vertical and Horizontal sync).
