Any body have a pdf manual or even a paper manual for "The New Addams Family Generator" shocker game? I am also looking for the light bulb that goes in Uncle Fester's mouth.
Thanks for looking
Aaron

I may have a manual still for one of those. What exactly are you looking for? I think the uncle fester bulb was common, 906 maybe? Are you trying to runit on location, or is it for home use? Reason I ask is because if you haven't had to rebuild a handle yet, they can be (at least, used to be) stupid expensive to rebuild/repair/replace. I will check around, and see if I have one.

This game most likely will be for home use. I would like a manual (hopefully with schematics) to check voltages and double check circuits to the handle motors. 1 of the handles does not work, and that is why I got it for cheap. The company I work for spends stupid money to a local business for electric motors and rebuilds, since I am one of the primary guys directing motors to them they said they are more than happy to help me with these motors(and keep me happy;.) ). I am looking for the bulb that sticks out of Festers's mouth(not the bulb that lights it) as someone has broken it off.
Thanks for your reply

I used one of the plastic Uncle fester bulbs to replace my missing light bulb. A lot of magic shops carry them. If you do a google search for them there are may different ones out there.
Finding the original parts for these games is extremely difficult.

It is a good game for the house with one issue, there isn't a free play button and the game will auto start the game after a while.

How do these actually work? I heard that the "Shock" was actually a vibration. What's the real answer. Some friends of mine and I would play these every year at the Jersey Shore. I never lost.

Its just a couple of motors spinning at a frequency that imitates being shocked. If you play often enough the feeling that you are being shocked wears off.

There are warning decals on mine that suggest children and those with weak hearts shouldn't play.

I've had more than a few people express their concerns when I let my 6 year old son play it.

I love telling people that I got it cheap because it electrocuted a few people and had to be pulled off location.

Yep Encom is correct. No electricity, just motorized vibration.
Got 1 bad motor, that is why it is down right now. Got 1 quote for a replacement motor-$600(OUCH!!). Friday my old motor goes to the motor repair shop to see what they can do to rebuild. Any body know if there is a replacement motor(that does not cost $600)?
Encom, hope you don't mind if I steal your quote when I get it running, I love it:" I love telling people that I got it cheap because it electrocuted a few people and had to be pulled off location."

I'm down one motor on mine too. Is your motor directly attached to the handle itself or is there a toothed belt that connects it to the handle?

Feel free to use my line, the looks on people's faces when I say it is priceless. Then they go play it anyways.

Mine is direct drive(no belt). Does yours still play with only 1 handle working. On mine when it says generator on, all lights start flashing, than game resets.

The one that I have came from Namco, so I am assuming that they did some sort of modification to the motor setup.

It runs with only one motor working. Most people don't even notice the difference. I have to keep all the wires hooked up to the dead motor. Have you tried swapping the motor board or motors between the two sides?

No, sadly there isn't. The motor is a precision stepper that also has a position encoder built inside the motor. These motors were custom made instead of being a common, off-the-shelf, sort of part and as a result are made of unobtainium.

I have one, maybe two (would have to sort thru some boxes of parts), that I would sell. I can beat $600, but not by a lot, they were always very expensive and I'm into them pretty deep, but since I am no longer servicing these machines I would sell one, or both, motors for pretty much what I have in them.

You can try calling the parts department at Elautusa.com and see if they
still carry them. I don't remember what they sold them for when I worked
there but it was a lot cheaper than $600.

They were using a replacement from Neumotors.com. The motor was a
hair larger than the original so you had to bend open the handle a little
to get it to fit.

Unfortunately the motor is only half the problem. You have to disassemble the
handle and see if the bearings are still good and the shaft is still straight.

If the bearings go bad the shaft will bend and you will destroy a new motor in
no time.

I actually made a prototype shocker chair a couple years ago. I replaced the
bad DMD with a 7" LCD monitor, and used a couple R/C ESC motor controllers
to run the handles. The controllers were interfaced to a small PC through a
custom IO board and I wrote the software as well. It was in an arcade at
Six Flags Great Adventure when I left, don't know how long it lasted or
what became of it.

Thanks alot JD for the info. My motor guys said my motor was something they could not fix. So I dropped the guys at Elautusa.com an email, and see where that goes. I know there must be a cheap replacement, but trying to matching up motors without any specs. is like finding a needle in a haystack.
thanks again for your info/help

I don't remember what they charged, it was around $250-$300 I think. The motors
come from Neumotors.com but NM won't sell you a single motor, as they build them to
order. I know Elaut bought a few dozen at least.

That number ($) is closer to what I can deal with( I was HOPPING for about $200). Hopefully Elaut will get back with me soon. I was wondering if the motors were custom made, as I checked out NMs website, and did not see a motor like mine.
Thanks

As I mentioned in my post above, Yes, these motors were custom made and not an "off the shelf" part, that is why they are so hard to source.

Again, the motor isn't just a motor, it also contains a position encoder to provide motor feedback to the controller board.
