Anybody out there have a Wii console just laying around that you don't want anymore? I don't need the cords. Just the console. Mine just quit reading Wii discs today. I figured I'd jump on here and see if anyone had a Wii they wanted rid of. My other option I guess is to run my games off an external hard drive (mine is soft nodded).

The weird thing is it plays gamecube games fine.

I'd go the Hard drive route. It will save you headaches in the long run. The USB Gx Loader is the way to go. It has a really nice interface and stores box art and disc art files.

Mplayer wii is also awesome to use as a media center solution.

If you have an HTPC that has some decent power behind it, check out the Dolphin emulator. I borrowed a Wii to play the new Zelda, but I can't hook it up to my TV because it has no RCA jacks for Composite or Component, and since the Wii is 1700's technology, it doesn't have an HDMI port.

So I downloaded Dolphin, and a rip of the game and now I'm playing it in 1080p with anti-aliasing. My settings aren't as maxed out as this vid:

But it still looks pretty damn good.

All you need is a Wiimote and the Motion plus dongle (the Wiimotes with MP built in aren't yet supported by Dolphin), a bluetooth reciever on your PC, and a wireless sensor bar.

if it wasn't hacked I'd say call Nintendo as they will actually help(they really believe in the customer service thing). Other than that I guess you might could fix it?

make sure you get one of those 3 sided screwdrivers, you have to have one...a flathead has 2 sides and a phillips has 4...the one you need has three

It's called a tri-wing screwdriver. Search for that on ebay or amazon and you'll get a bunch of matches.

*facepalm*

It's got to be a race. A race to 1000 posts in as little time as possible.

It's the only logical explanation I can come up with.

Well, I got the $27 replacement DVD player the other day, installed it, and it works great! It was a pain in q but removing all the tiny screws to remove the player from the Wii but was a pretty easy fix.
