I'm looking for at least one adaptor to get this tested.

Here's the ones I need; 101-114,153-155 I'm looking for anything in between these numbers

Any one of these would get me started in testing this thing out and may get me started in making my own adaptors, I understand that the molex connectors on this are no longer available? If that's the case then i may just change them to the new standard and make all my own adaptors but it's just a thought for now.

Has anyone made anything for this unit, or modded it to do something better like add the isolation trasformer or made adaptors?

Here's the flyer for anyone interested in what this looks like.

They can be had for about $7.00 each - I went looking for some a few days ago. For a complete harness, I think that's 6 or 7 connectors, so cost adds up quickly. Best thing to do would be to buy one set, or sacrifice 1 harness to make an adapter from these to something more modern and easily obtainable. Then, just make your own harnesses from there.

I have the harness you want -- I don't have any Nintendo boards - shame on me - I love Nintendo games. If you're looking for the real deal - an original Univid Harness #153, I might let it go for the right price. Shoot me a PM with an offer and maybe I'll bite. Also, once you have one harness, it is easy to pull the edge connector pins and put them in a different order to create a harness of another type (but connector must match - i.e. 22/44 pin, or 18/36 pin). You can also just pull out the necessary pins and swap to a different connector of fewer pins, but then we're getting away from the need for original Univid harnesses.

You might also check out this thread from a ways back. The other guy has lots of harnesses, and a few spares (probably more than he is letting on), but refused at that time to sell any of them outright to me he only wanted to trade, and he didn't want anything I had.

Or, what else do you have to trade for this? Maybe you've got 100 Donkey Kong boards and wouldn't mind letting one go, or ??????

I have a UNIVID 1000.

I had an extra set of the Molex connectors so I did as it was suggested further up, I built a adapters. I used DB25 connectors, which in hind site was probably not a good idea. The reason I say that, is that it's a PITA to build the adapters because I have to solder a lot. However, it is a lot cheaper then Molex connectors.

I'm the other guy in the above named thread. I've been on the hunt for Univid harnesses for well over 10 years. Very difficult to find. Like Hypersport said, I'd trade, but I don't want to outright sell right now. I've found a two different people with a large stash of them, but they won't sell either. Unfortunately, they don't even have any doubles (at least that's what they've told me). Good luck. I hope you find some, and doubles too, so we can trade (or if you're a nicer guy than me and would outright sell them).

I did see those post but only after I bought this UNIVID1000. I'm on the fence on what to do with it, do I (A) replace the Molex connectors on the UNIVID to a new standard and make my own harness or (B) just sell it to someone else that has some adaptors or just want's one to sit on it?

I could easly build this same thing in my own housing and not have to modify this one but then again I could easly replace the connectors and be ready to go to make some harness.

I need to put some more thought into it, If I can use the same size pins in the new connectors then I could always put the old connectors back.

Thanks guy's for the input!!

Not sure this is something you'd be interested in or not, but I may be able to offer a service to mod the original harness of the UNIVID1000 to swap out edge connectors quickly and easily with one "universal" connector installed in the harness. Might even be able to offer a jamma end as well. I'll do some research on it this evening and see what I can come up with. If anyone else would be interested in something like that, let me know.

This would be my vote for the way to go - make one Jamma to univid adapter then use game specific jamma adapters whenever possible. On other games that need things like trackballs, use the secondary "universal" connector to specific game edge card connector.
