According to the Tron manual, the piece I need is called the (lower) windshield retaining bracket.

This is the black strip of metal that covers the gap between the monitor glass/shroud and the top of the upper black light plexi.

Please email [email protected] if you have one or know where I can get one.

Thank you.

Jim

I think I've got one extra of these. But it isn't black, just galvanized metal. Is this it? if so, $25 shipped?

Paypal address: [email protected]

Just thought I'd offer,
John

Unfortunately, no. That holds down the upper light housing and anchors the control panel. The piece he's looking for is the same length (obviously) and relatively flat with a very slight bend in the middle of it. It seems to be a part missing from many games...it's easy for the screws to go missing and be lost.

Ah......now I know what you mean. Thanks for the clarification.

I found one of those too. But I'm going to see if I can get a few reproduced and then I'll sell you a new one.

If anyone else needs one, either PM me or reply to this thread. I'll get as many made as are needed.

Will be in touch....thanks,
John

Good idea...I've seen at least 5 people looking for these in the past few months. It's a commonly missing part that nobody reproduces that I know of.

In case there was still any doubt, I took a picture of mine and labeled the piece for everyones reference.

I have seen someone looking for this lately, wasn't sure if this was one person or many people.

we still be needing this piece? I dug through my box of Tron goodies, looks like I got one but my wife has the camera to take a pic for you to verify. I matched it up with the holes on the shroud and it lines up.
i'll snap a pic asap

Just FYI to everyone interested....I'm still in the process of repro-ing this piece. Should have pricing next week. It will be an exact match, powder coated black. Should be nice.

Thanks,
John

In the absence of a reproduction and since this part is scarce and in demand, I think you could make one of these while you wait for the real deal. I have a linoleum transition strip going into my office, and I noticed it has a very similar shape to the bracket in question. Not quite as wide, but if painted black it could serve as cheap alternative - I'm sure they sell this stuff at Home Depot, just not sure what it's called.

Just thought I'd throw it out there, I know how cheap some of you guys are :)

I did get about 20 of them made, but didn't do the powder coating. They were too expensive to begin with, and after powder coating no one would have bought them. I think they cost me just over $15 each to make. I'll sell them for $25 shipped. That will cover shipping and give me a couple dollars profit (yippee). You'll need to paint them black. They're just steel. I've used a few and they seem to be an exact match functionally.

Anyone interested, just paypal me at: [email protected]

Thanks,
John
