Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a Tron joystick that's blacklight receptive. I just noticed mine doesn't really "glow" like it should so I'm pretty sure it's a replica. If you have one you're willing to part with drop me a line.

Thanks!
Mike

For what it's worth. I've got a Groovy Game Gear repro on my Tron and original on my Discs of Tron. When I redo the DOT CPO, I'm going to replace the stick with the GGG repro...they glow better.

The trigger action on the GGG is definitely much different than the original, I don't really like it. But the fluorescence makes up for it.

Did you use GGG's micro trigger or an original Tron leaf switch? I see how there would be a different feel between the two.

I didn't think the original leaf type fit onto GGG's, I didn't really try to install it. the fittings / mount looked much different.

I thought it was an exact replica of a NOS stick? why would anything be different.

I bought one, but my stick is flawless so I wasn't going to change it. I do have my 2nd tron coming in a week or 2 and it needs a new stick though.

I have 2 origial sticks (just the blue plastic shell) with red trigger and orignal leaf switch. No cracks that I can see. $35 shipped if anyone is interested.

The shells are identical. The tooling used was the same from 20+ years ago. I even have photos of internal mold marks which are identical on both an original and the ones we offer. Interestingly enough, the original I examined and compared did not have the structural gussets around the screw holes (but did have some bad cracks there), so these seems to have been added to the tooling "mid-production" in order to address that issue.

The entire metal switch structure in your original would need to be transplanted. You can't just swap in the leaf switch. Our version of a switch was done the way it was for reasons not only of cost (that sub assembly is quite costly) but also because your finger and forearm would start to ache after about 5-minutes of using the microswitch replacements which are currently available from other sources. But the shells are indeed compatible with all varieties of switch assemblies designed for this particular shell.

As a side note, I get a kick everytime I see them referred to as "reproductions". I guess in one sense they are, as the materials, even though they are considered to be the same, are formulations which are 20+ years more advanced. That's why they glow better. But they aren't really "copies" in the traditional sense of the word. They are the real deal, just resurrected and given the benefit of modern polymer technologies.
