Still looking for a Tempest machine. I live in Kansas, so one in that region would be nice.

I had a thread a few weeks ago about this and Scott C has offered to sell me a cabaret he is restoring. I am waiting to buy that one but the price is a bit up there for me, it being a cabaret and all. If some one wants to sell a standard machine for a more typical price, I would be greatfull.

Thanks everyone.

Tell me about it. I should have moved on this a few years ago.

What is reasonable, if there is a resonance about this title, over or under a thousand?

For a decent working machine, that has had some degree of work done do it (monitor rebuilt, etc), you'll be looking at over a grand.

Non working can be had under $1000, as they pop up on CL, etc.

Maybe Scott C,s price for the cabarets aren't so high after all.☺

Probably just wait for Scott to finish his and buy it. I just wish the new cabaret side art now available to upgrade them wasn't $200!

I'm still keeping an eye out for a restorable one myself. It's finding one with the chassis & tube that's the trick.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If someone could just figure out how to convert regular monitors or tv's. I shouldn't have wasted my time getting easy to get machines.

Search facebook for a group called 'Vectrex , XY and Vector monitors The Technical Side', and join. There's a member doing exactly that.

There are other folks experimenting with converting TV parts into vector monitors (if you search around), but the guy above has arguably made the most progress, as he's designed a new boardset from scratch. The first run's presale is sold out, but more may be done, depending on how they turn out.

Forgot about this guy, they're nice slim metal boards, right? I'm already in that group. I love it when facebook decides to stop updating me on stuff.

Actualy, I found that group recently and it is so very cool. It looks like one would have to be able to rewind the monitor yoke and I'm not sure if my knowledge of electronics is that good. But wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all build are own Star Wars machines? That is if the control yoke is ever reproduced.

I have one of his previous rebuilds and without a doubt it's worth the wait.

Thanks for the imputt Airlair. Being someone in this hobby that lives in a small town with no one else around me that's interested, well it's nice to have the community on this board show such interest and willingness to help out.
