Hi Guys,

I just bought a cocktail cabinet kit and i'm looking for some tempered tinted cocktail glass (glass or plexi) 32" x 22". Anyone have any good recommendations on where to get a piece? I would need clips as well.

thanks!
Jason

I have a thick glass smoked piece but its rectangular 19 1/2" x 26" for sale if interested and I am located in bayshore ny 11706.

I'm building a cocktail right now and I'm using a clear glass top with a rectanglular smoked lexan piece over the monitor. I do bevieve this is the correct configuration.

I ordered the 32" X 22" polished edge, tempered, no logo, glass from my local glass company. It came out beautiful, took three days, and only $70.

Hey wait so you just have smoked glass over the actual monitor itself, but then a piece of clear glass over the whole top of the cabinet? What about your monitor..I just traced out the top and I can definitely fit a 20-21" widescreen LCD in there (I know people like CRT) the issue with that is, is all of the games come out too stretched or too fat on both sides since the monitors are basically squared, so I think i'm going to go this way. I'm starting to contemplate if I should get a smoked finish glass for the whole top to give it a better look. good idea with the lexan finish, maybe i'll get a clear top and just put my own tinted film on top?

On my original cocktail and all the Midway cocktail the monitor is bolted to the top in a recessed area. This allows the smoked plexi to sit down below the level of the wood top. The clear glass with the graphic underlay then sits nice and flat.

I'm using a CRT. I think it looks so much better and I won't have the edge-on view issues that some LED's have in a cocktail.

Thats good to know, if I decide to go with graphics on the cabinet top, should I not get a tinted piece of glass and just go with clear? I'd assume the gray style tempered glass would make it look too dark? Can you describe what you mean by the edge-on view issues? I'm still contemplating on my options so i want to know whats good and bad with each option.

thanks
Jason

Look at a LCD monitor at the angle you would if it was mounted in a cocktail. Sometimes the colors change or the screen is darker. Viewing straight on is fine but at the shallow angle of a cocktail it can have a crappy picture.

If you are going to have a graphic underlay I would certainly recommend clear glass.

ahh good point I got you..so I need to make sure I get a monitor with a good viewing angle. Not sure if i'm going to LED or LCD yet but you make a great point. I'll have to factor that when i'm shopping for screens. Thanks for both suggestions..I think I have a good idea now of what i'm going to do.

thanks!

One last thing...I found an acrylic table top from mameroom.com that will fit the cabinet but its made from acrylic..i've heard it scratches easy and the best way to go is tempered glass. Would you recommend the acrylic table top or tempered the only way to go? My local guy is charging 85 bucks shipped to my door...i'm in NYC and of course its more here but hey free shipping. The other is 50 without shipping..they claim it would be about 10 to ship..worth the extra 25 to just go tempered?

thanks
Jason

Does anyone have the exact dimensions of the table top off hand? Or the exact dimensions I'd have to have the glass cut cut and round off the corners?

The Midway cocktail glass is 32" X 22" 1/4" tempered 3 1/2" radius corners, polished edges, no logo. Stern cocktail glass is close enough to these measurments as well.

Are you building a new cocktail from a kit? If so, I hope the manufacturer of the kit uses the standard size top.
