i can try to explain here, but i may have to make another control panel for a system 1 in the near future, and if so, i will take pics too.
1. get the sheet metal (i used 16 gauge and it is fine, 14 gauge is probably better, but tractor supply only had 16 gauge).
2. cut the sheet metal to the appropriate width.
3. then using c-clamps, wood, put the sheet metal about 1/2" in between the wood and clamp tight as hell. then clamp some more.
4. using a propane torch and heavy gloves, heat the sheet metal slowly and put pressure downward on the metal to get a nice bend at 90 degrees. (this will be the bottom lip that is tucked under).
5. then you need to flip the metal and clap that 1/2" lip between the wood again.
6. you will be working on the curve of the control panel now, so you need to have the top piece of wood that is clamped match the curve of the cabinet. i happened to have a rounded piece of oak and i put that on top of a 2x4 and clamped it down. it was pretty close in measurement to the cabinet for the curve. then heat and bend again. during this part, you will want to 'overbend' slightly as it will be a little springy.
7. after bending the curve, you will now need to trim to fit as it likely will be longer and interfere at the speakers (make sure you pre-measure everything as this is not a 100% accurate step by step)..
8. either make (by bending and drilling) or buy the control panel pieces that the clamps hook onto.
9. weld the control panel brackets on.
10. drill holes for buttons and joystick.
11. prime/paint.
12. cover with generic overlay.
