Hi everyone. New to the arcade scene, and this site. Just recently got my first cab, SF2 Champion Edition. But I really want to have the real deal. I've been looking around haven't had much luck finding this Jamma. If anyone has this or the Hyper Super Turbo version from 2003, let me know. Thanks!

Nefarsus,

I have a Turbo Hyper Fighting board that keeps resetting itself and is no good to me. Not sure if it needs a bottom board or not but either way, you are welcome to it and if you already have a working CE board, I can remove the Hyper Fighting roms and you can just switch them out on your board snd you'll hvse your Turbo Hyper Fighting :)

Cheers

EDIT: CRAP!!!! Just seen you are after the newer 2003 version :( Sorry about that.

I just realized I put this in the wrong forum. Could someone move this for me. I'm really sorry about that.

If you're looking for Hyper Street Fighter (Anniversary) from 2003 that board is really rare. Your best bet is to get a CPS2 18-in-1 board which has Anniversary. The 18-in-1 is all Phoenixed ROMs so it's not emulation, and it's the same exact thing as the originals. At $190, it prob costs less than what an AE board would be, I'd wager.

If you want the best "tournament" SF2 you def want Super Turbo, which you can usually find for $150 or so. Remember that Super Turbo or Anniversary both need a CPS2 kick harness, which is different kick harness than the CPS1 harness in your CE machine. Nobody plays AE seriously for tournament, but it's a fun board (even though it has Super Turbo characters, AE has lots of incorrect properties for them)

Thanks for the information. I had read it was rare, but was hoping I'd be able to find it. I would be extremely happy with just Super Turbo. I was directed to this site and neogeo from SRK to find it. Hoping I'll be able to find it.

Yeah I had read about the kick harness thing. Now is it possible to play CPS3 on CPS1 with some kind of harness or converter? I would really love to have 3rd Strike at some point too.

Yes, CPS2 and CPS3 use the same kick harness. You can buy an adapter so you can use a CPS2 or CPS3 board in a cab already wired with a CPS1 kick harness.

You should look into a CPS2 18-1 board. It has the fighting games you're looking for on it plus some other rare titles.

I personally own a CPS2 18-1 and can tell zero difference between original CPS2 boards and the 18-1. The Qsound is on point and the graphics sync up the same between games. It runs on a CPS2 motherboard so it's not emulated. The only gripe is that the intro sequence is skipped when you select a game because the deposited credit is applied to the game on bootup. Also, the test switch doesn't run through the intermediate harness that is necessary to run the board so you actually have to press the test switch on the motherboard instead of using a more handy cabinet test switch. Every game runs without a flaw with the exception of the Hyper Anniversary Edition which is missing sounds from the World Warrior, Champion Edition, and Hyper Fighting versions of the street fighters within the game. This problem could be unique to my board though.

The other option for Hyper Anniversary Edition is to get a cheap B-board and replace the EPROMS with Hyper Anniversary Edition EPROMS. I know someone who did that relatively inexpensively and successfully.

Oh yeah, 3rd Strike kits go for about $300 - $400 and there is no way to phoenix or revive the security karts as of right now. The battery replacement on CPS3 carts isn't exactly cake either like CPS2 is. The other alternative to a CPS1/CPS2 adapter is to place a molex plug/socket on the wires from the kick buttons. You can buy them at Radio shack for a buck or two.

How much is one of those 18 in 1 jammas? Are there any retailers that sell any of the ones I'm looking for, or do I just have to get lucky on a site like this and hope someone has one for sale?

I bought mine from armi0024, brand new -- he's selling some for $190 in a thread here I believe.

My 18-in-1 isn't missing any WW/CE/HF sounds in AE, but I know a lot of people have that problem. Luck of the draw.

Yeah, I almost bought a 2I on here yesterday but I don't want to be worrying about the battery.
