I am looking for an Atari vector power brick, and also possibly the pcb cage and wiring harness for a Star Wars. I was hoping to get one that was pretty much rust-free and working. the original part number is A037396-04 F with the A037395-01 transformer. Does anyone local to Sacramento, CA have anything they can hook me up with? Thanks!!

*Bump* Still looking...

I saw a real grimy one on ebay that the seller states is untested- no guarantees for $95 plus shipping. This seems a little high for something that might not work. Does anyone have a somewhat good condition one that works for a somewhat reasonable price (I dunno, is $50 too low?, maybe $75?)?

Thanks!

*Bump* I am still looking and really hoping to find one local, as shipping seems to be pretty high (I had one lead, but not too crazy about the $35 shipping- I still appreciate the help). I know there has to be at least one within 50mi of Sacramento- maybe not?

Thanks, Chris

i have a untested tempest brick
i know i can ship it to you for less than 35
it does fit in one of those usps flat rate boxes
if you want it i can check on shipping for you.

Don't ship power bricks in flat rate boxes

Whatever you do, DO NOT ship an Atari power brick in a USPS flat rate box. That is an invitation for destruction. I've had 3 of these destroyed by shipping using that method. Two of them were sent to me that way even after I specifically asked the sellers not to. Take a look at what can happen. I know it's hard to see from these small files but it was dropped so hard that a corner of the transformer was actually recessed into the base plate! Never go cheap in shipping these things.

Yikes.

I had a couple shipped to me - the guy screwed them to a piece of plywood, cut out to the size of the box, same as it would be installed in a cabinet. That prevented what you see here, if you also have ample room and padding on top.

Thanks for the heads-up about the perils of USPS flat rate shipping guys. I guess something as heavy as a power brick takes a little extra effort and padding to ship if you want it to get there undamaged...

PM sent to docfrankie.

+1 on building a wood box around this power supply before placing it in the flat rate box. After all, you have SEVENTY FIVE POUNDS to work with here. You could damn near fill the box with lead and still be able to ship it for $15.

Screw it to a piece of wood, then build a wood box to cap it off. Wrap said box in bubble wrap, THEN place it in the flat rate box. They'll have to run over it with the delivery truck to cause any damage then.

With shipping this stuff, there IS no such thing as over-packing.
