Well now crapola. I'd lined up a Star Wars marquee that arrived today. It looks great. I was pleased with it.

...that is... until I remembered that there was a batch of marquees going around that were about 1/4" too thin... i do believe Arcadeshop offered them back in the day...

...well guess what.

Yup... this is one of them.

:(

SOOO....I am back to needing a new repro/nos Star Wars upright marquee.

PM me if you have one.

I'm bummed.

To be crystal clear... this is NOT a new batch bought from Arcadeshop marquee.

I bought it from someone who "believes" it originated from Arcadeshop BITD.

Well... I can confirm... it did.

:(

I can say that I bought one from AS a while ago and it came with the serial number in the corner. This one does not have that serial number... so that would be one way to know that it's not of the same batch.

In any case... I'm back to square one and it's looking like I may have to bite the bullet and cease my self-imposed ban on purchasing from AS.

I have one. It's an older repro that the seller of my SW gave me. The width seems fine, but it doesn't have the Atari copyright on it. I suppose it depends on how much that matters to you. I can upload photos you're interested.

Hi Derek...

How wide is it (I want to measure vs my cab)... please shoot photos over... I'm very interested. What are you asking shipped to 83686?

Thanks!

Hard to believe but I have got a few overlays from there and they were so
who knows. not sure what the width should be on those.
and I guess buying from ArcadeShop is out at least they werent trying to sell cockpits and panels that didnt exist :D

Pm me your email address and I can snap a quick photo with my iPhone. Width is 23 9/16". If eldorado doesn't have a good one for you, I'll be happy to send you this for $10 + shipping. I don't even know what it would cost to ship, because I don't know the best way to do it. I don't think I would want to roll it in a tube, because it might crease. I'd have to find a box that I could gently bend it over in. I can't imagine it would cost more than $10 to do it. I also noticed after I dusted it off that there's an area of the black just under the W that looks lighter. Don't know what did it. I'm not pushing to sell this one, and if El Dorado has a good one, then go for it. Just thought I'd offer it if you were desperate.

Just got a response from Eldorado:

The marquee overlay that I have is 17 1/4 X 23 5/8
It is a reproduction, and doesn't have the number in the corner. You will have to measure your game.
S+H is $16

$16.00 SHIPPING for a fuckin marquee overlay that can be mailed in a tube for $5.00?

Screw that. I'd buy from Steve before I gave these chumps a dime.

The thing is, I'd be worried about rolling it in a tube and having it crack or crease.

They do make pretty big tubes... the one that was sent to me (too thin) came in a small tube... it was rolled up pretty tight... though phoenix arcade sends things in about 5" tubes which aren't nearly as tight.

EDIT: I got the photos... and I think i agree with you on the white marks...

:(

I think i'm back to the drawing board.

i have one of the narrow ones on my game, i just centered it and it's not that bad.

Yeah... I thought about it... but this is going to be a keeper cab of mine and I want it "right"...

If I'm gunna cough up the dough for all the artwork... it's gunna be "right".

:)

Hey Frizz hate to be the one to break it to you but shipping is more than just $5 bucks
especially when wanting it in a thick 5" tube. The rolled width on that is proably close to 18" and the weight will be at least 2lbs if not more, So prioty mail will be at least $9.8min
the cost of a good tube and proper packing will add on a little as well.
I really dont think $16 is all that far off espcially for something thats a "keeper"
just my 25c

I just got a rolled marquee in the mail...the Star Wars one that is 1/4" too small... total cost for postage:

$5.45

Though I will admit the tube cost $2 and change... but I assure you that any company who ships artwork has tubes sitting around that have been used or cost much less than that.

If he'd have come back with $10.00 shipping I'd have not even blinked. $16.00 and I'm insulted. Screw him.

EDIT: That would be Priority Mail too BTW... and the reason the tube cost $2.49 is because it was bought at the post office...it's a Ready Post tube.
