WTB: Star Wars Boardset or SW board repair

Just out of curiosity, why not send to Eldorado games? They supposedly fix them for $135. I'm about to send one in, and was wondering if you guys know something I don't about them....

Thanks,
John

I did not know about that. Thank you

I am calling them after writing this.

Thanks!

I don't have any idea why this place ever gets a rec.

I'd send it here http://www.elektronforge.com/category2.htm or one of the reputable people here that fix these.

Thank you guys for the replies

Once again, I am soooooo glad I am a member of this forum. Priceless info.

Eldorado won't know anything about the SWESB and will probably tear it off, throw it away, and charge you for new ROMs....

I don't know if Dick's got any experience with the kits either.

I emailed Alex last week about buying one of his boards and never got a response. This has been par for the course in my experience with him. He either takes a really long time to email me back or I never hear anything back at all. If you are going to run a business but can't even answer a simple email, I'm going to look elsewhere.

Now when I have actually gotten ahold of him and bought things in previous years, he has always shipped promptly and the items arrived as described.

I've had the same experience with Alex. He seems like a great guy, but his time is precious and he isn't looking for a ton of work. I've contacted him a couple times and asked basically if I could smother him with boards to repair and he wasn't terribly interested.

I'll eventually use him, and I know he'll do a good job. But I like having a bunch of stuff repaired at once and he isn't interested.

I only have limited experience with Eldorado, but it's been good. I had them repair a couple sets of I, Robot boards and they did an excellent job and charged a reasonable price (considering the difficulty of finding working I, Robot boards).

They also fixed some newer Sega stuff for me and that went well.

I just sent them a few boards to fix/swap (including a Star Wars set) so I'll let you all know how it comes out.

I had no problems with El Dorado dealing with my 720 boards a month or two ago. Fast turnaround time (1 week) and they called me after they diagnosed the issue. I called them a couple of times and John was more than helpful. And the price was fine by me...

There's a guy here in the Dallas area that has been repairing vector boards for Pat (Komodo)... ping him for contact info.

I don't do vector games as I don't have the room for the monitors & test jigs.
