and note, there are only 5 boards in that set (not 6)
So this set does not fill all the slots? This is my mistake then. There are 6 slots that are all labeled with one missing. If this one only uses 5 then we are all set (it's just broken, lol!)

After reading the write up that Charles Klein did on the space zap boards, I can see that even though Midway marked for six boards, they only used five. So we are no longer looking for this board. When I pulled this cage out of the machine, I was expecting to see a full cage like I've seen on gorf. My mistake.

GORF is special with all the "sub" games. Or at least that's what I'm thinking.

Looks like Midway went cheap on the board cage - one size fits all, one label.

As the games progressed and evolved, technically, the number of boards increased to support the needs.

The only real difference in configuration is that later games separated the Game and Rom boards into two separate boards whereas the early ones had it combined into one. And the earliest game, Extra Bases, did not use a Pattern board either.

So, for number of boards per game we have:

• Extra Bases = 4
• Space Zap = 5
• Robby Roto = 6
• Wizard of Wor = 6
• Gorf = 6

Also, the boards can be moved around in any order so disregard any labeling sticker on the cage as it's often wrong.

If you need a repair you can DM me.

This is such good material it deserves a STICKY.
