I've been mulling over the idea of picking up a Space Duel so I thought I'd see if anyone out there has one they'd be willing to part with for a decent price. I have limited room for full size cabs and this is a game I really like despite it's unpopularity.

I think I have a big enough SUV to fit one in (I've never moved anything bigger than a cocktail though) and I'm willing to drive a few hours to go get it. Cab doesn't have to be in awesome shape, but I'd like one with a half-way decent monitor.

Anyone have one they'd part with?

Hi, I have a fully working Space Duel in Evanston that I'd sell. The problem (for me at least, and maybe you too if you don't get any other responses) is that the game is often worth more in parts than the whole game. And since I really don't want to part out a dedicated fully working game, it ends up staying with me because I can't sell it for parts value. I don't blame potential buyers for not wanting to pay too high a price, but I don't blame me either for not wanting to sell it for less than parts value. The other part of me is I don't like to give up a color vector monitor, as while not rare by any means, they aren't cheap and they don't exactly grow on trees either. In the end, my loss I guess because I'd like to sell it.

Other than that though, it is local to you and no stairs at all, you can pull your vehicle right up to it at my garage.

Price? Obviously a matter of debate and I know people can bring up many examples of exceptions and/or just disagree with me in general (but I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts on prices I estimated), but my guess/thoughts are:

Fully working, decent/good condition cabinet, marquee & CP = $500-$700

Parts from said game:
marquee = $10-15
front glass = $5
control panel = $55
coin door = $10
WG6100 monitor = $350-400
wiring/transformer = $35
audio/reg PCB = $15
Space Duel PCB = $60-80
cabinet = $20
manual/schematics = $15 (not positive I have these, but I think so)
total = $575-$650

So if I could sell it more toward the high end, it would be a break even deal for me.

If you don't get any other replies and are interested in mine, let me know. You are welcome to come check it out and try it out. To be honest though, it's in pretty good condition, I'm thinking in the range of $650-700.

Yeah, I was kind of afraid of that! Right now I think yours is more than I wanted to spend, but we'll see if anyone else has anything.

Unfortunately for me, I like vectors and I like cabarets so I'm finding it hard to buy machines I like.

I don't understand why this game doesn't get more love. I think it's a great looking game and fun to play. But then I love all color vectors. There should be a law against parting them. :) Good luck with the hunt!

Ahhhhh Space Duel... My first game picked up this summer, cabinet was a little scary but I got it for $400 and a $100 bottle of champagne. Wound up trading it away a month or so later for something I'm ashamed to post. I miss it, shoulda kept it.

Good luck in your hunt, but I say just work something out with poster #2 and be done with it.

Ahhh..now come on you could tell us..

Agreed. You may find something cheaper if you wait (and wait) but to find one working to begin with a decent cab means you get to play it right away instead of having to fix it. And if you add the cost to repair it you are above Joe's price.

As Spock said in the new Star Trek movie: "The cadet's logic is sound".
