Cross-posted from Neo-Geo.com. As mentioned in my introduction thread, I have feedback there, on the Shmups Forum, and on Digital Press. You can contact me there to cross-reference my identity and all that jazz.

I'm trying to dig up a Smash TV and a Total Carnage. At minimum I'd want the boards and all relevant wiring necessities. I won't shy away from partial kits including manuals, marquees, and the like. If I can get both in one fell swoop it would be nice. I'd buy that for a dollar!

All obvious kidding aside, I would like to get these boards. Send me offers and details. Thanks everyone!

smash tv boards are frequently on ebay for a good price around 100, (not that one they always have posted as a kit which is overpriced)

it's jamma.
i wasn't successful getting it to work with a cga/vga converter so it probably requires a real arcade monitor to play.

I have a spare total carnage board I need to test.. There is a chance I might get a 2nd smash tv soon(going to keep whichever is better). So maybe I will sell a smash tv cab with both boards very soon..

always dubious with people who dont post location
doesnt have to be exact spot, just anything

Huh, never heard that as a serious concern for trading. In that case I am currently operating out of Rochester, NY for school and will be back in Elyria, OH in about a month.

Really? Damn. I'll have to try it with mine and see if I can get better results, assuming I grab a board sometime soon. Maybe there was a weak sync signal or something?

Edit:

Found this on the JROK site.

"The only known problems are with later Midway games such as Smash TV, NBA JAM, Mortal Komat ( 1, 2 & 3 ) . These games use a vertical sync. frequency of around 56Hz ( the majority of games having a vertical sync of around 60Hz ). This vertical sync. frequency appears to be incompatible with some Sony TV sets, most notably the Sony WEGA series. These sets cannot sync to this frequency and the picture will roll vertically.

This is NOT a problem with the output from the converter is it purely a problem with the TV receiver."

I imagine this also causes an issue with the CGA/VGA scaler. This is both interesting and problematic. Guess it's time to some Internet snooping.

Do you know if the sound board will also work with total carnage?

I don't think so.. Total carange looks to use the sound board of MK1.

mrbill is correct, total carnage uses the same soundboard as MK1/NBA jam.

while smash tv uses the same soundboard as high impact, pigskin, and some williams pinball machines.

I have a converted smash tv game that I could part out. Not really sure at this point but I would have everything needed to convert a jamma cab including board, control panel and marquee. I am hesitating because the control panel has 4 8-way wico leaf joysticks which are useful for robotron machines and would be nice to have for spares or installed in my neo geo cabinet.
