Hey all,

I'm looking for a complete, incomplete, or bare Simpsons control panel. The artwork condition isn't that important since I will probably replace it unless I find one in good shape. If someone has a complete panel with the wiring that would be ideal, but I can work with what I have to. Just to clarify, I don't need the entire assembly with the control panel box that bolts to the cabinet, just the top section with all the joysticks. Another KLOV member might have the joysticks or more, but I wanted to test the waters and see if anyone else has something.

I know that I have two panels since I have two cabinets, but two problems...
They're now buried in my garage and won't be able to even get to them until next week sometime. Second problem is that I'm not sure if I want to part the second cabinet or sell/trade it as a rough and empty project.

If you don't come up with something send me a PM to remind me of the need for a Simpsons control panel, otherwise it'll probably be sitting there next springtime!! :p

Like i said in the other post i would be interested in the Extra Simpsons cab.
Its condition is so bad I never did put it in my house... Everytime it is moved it leaves a trail of oatmeal on the ground. Its borderline beyond help, and has a 50/50 chance of meeting the arcade gods in the sky. If the leftover parts can be used to fix two or three Konami cabs thats probably its fate.

Simpsons cab

Well you knew i wanted this along time ago Karl. You told me you where going too fix it up/ Restore it to it's former glory.

Maybe the cab just got wrost from just sitting there for years.

It possibly could have. It still will be fixed up, all of its guts will be cleaned up and live in the solid gutted Simpsons cabinet that I picked up on my trip. The original cabinet was falling in on itself when I got it, why I never put it inside the house. Even with wood screwing and braces I don't think it would be right and literally crumbles. I brought a Frogger cabinet inside like that and it was literally oatmeal and had a bad smell. Simpsons was one of my top games on my original wanted list back in the day, and still is. I've been waiting for a solid Konami cabinet to come along... found it, now I have all the parts that I will need for a good build other than marquee and CPO which will be easy to have printed off.

Anyways, not to derail his wanted thread. In the next couple of weeks when I've got both cabinets side by side and am swapping things over, I will assess the left over cabinet condition and determine if it is to be parted out or if it is to live. If I'm gonna save the leftover parts, I will PM and take some pictures of the control panel.

Sorry that sometimes good games in bad condition cabinets have to die. I'm not a kill 'em kind of guy and sometimes will lose money in order to find it a new home, but I also don't want to pass off some oatmeal piece of shit on someone...

could'nt doing bondo or glueing or replacing the wood fix that?
I don't know that you understand rotten wood and cabinet repair. Some things are so ugly that its not worth the money, time or effort, you could buy two really nice ones for the cost of patching together a rotten blasted piece of crap. You'd need to cut almost every piece out brand new, then it wouldn't be a restore it would be a new cabinet build. You'd then need to buy every piece of artwork, wire in a harness with the 4p controls, joysticks, buttons, find a monitor that works, get a working pcb, have a glass bezel cut for it. About a gallon of bondo later and $600 later you'd have a nice Simpsons cabinet that wasn't original.

I think its quite obvious what the problem is...
I have a ugly Simpsons cabinet, which is a game that you've been looking for.
I found a second Simpsons cabinet that you'd also like to have.
Reading that I'm considering parting the worse of the two to save one breaks your heart.

I've offered you games first ahead of other people that you showed interest in and "Had to have" but we were never able to make a deal happen. I even remembered 6 months to a year later and sent you off an email saying that your wanted game was coming up on the chopping block. I was willing to take $200 less than what I sold it for (Golden Axe II) so a klover who really wanted a nice one could have it, and you still passed it up...

Its not that I'm an asshole, I do believe I sense jealousy in your thread postings and anger that I would scrap something out that is something you've been looking for...

What am I supposed to do? Give you the cabinet for free, all the parts I've gathered over the last year, and hell, throw in delivery the 200miles round trip?? Maybe I should also eat all the gas on all this driving around picking up cabinets and driving them 1200 miles back home SO I COULD SAVE A SIMPSONS CABINET. I left a pretty nice working game that was trade bait down in California because I didn't have the room... would have been easy to kick Simpsons out since it was empty, BUT, I left a couple hundred dollar game behind so as to continue my dream of a NICE Simpsons cab.

I'm honestly not sure what you're trying to get at, but it pushes me more towards parting out before I even assess the condition and not to worry about what other games people are looking for...

Over the last year or so I've seriously been understanding what Chris25810 and the others bitch about... You try to save something and everyone whines... you then part it out everyone whines... So I guess I should be in this hobby so OTHER people can get games and I can take losses on each one...

First off yes i stated i wanted this years ago even when i just missed when the other person had it. No i'm not anger or bitter or anything toward you or anyone for that matter.

Never asked you too give me the game for free *was willing too buy it* Yes i don'nt understand the rotten wood becouse i'm seen people bring cabs back from the dead.

About the Golden Axe 2 We have covered this before you wanted too do a trade for a deal i did'nt want too get rid of. I did'nt have the cash or sure i would have grabbed it for sure.

I guess we would be understand each other better if we talked in other ways rather than be on here.

Heck in the last 5 years i've brought 2 machines .

sorry if i made you feel the way you said .

No worries, I'm not upset. Its just if I wait around for every person that ever told me they were interested in something I'd have about 150 cabinets and only moved 4. I understand not having money or room, it happens to me all the time. More or less, if memory serves me correctly, the extra cabinet isn't worth the gas money to even come out here. The money would be in the parts, which is about all of nothing. Its alot of effort to list a cabinet and wait around for someone to pick it up when its a $20 or $30 cab, only to remember me by looking at the rotten waterlogged piece of crap in their garage that will take forever to source the parts. Sometimes its just better and easier to find a couple people on the klov who need the parts to fix theirs and let a bad cabinet die. Shipping is a pain in the ass and I need to take off a little early from work to send, but I figure every part shipped is a step towards saving a cabinet.

If the cabinet were nicer it wouldn't be a question of IF to save but WHO's going to adopt it? If nobody parted them, alot of other ones CLOSE to working would not be fixable since all the good parts are sitting on shitty cabinets! :)

I guess the tone of email typings makes everything sound smartass and monotone. I read it as though I'm saying the words myself...

I know that you really want a Simpsons cabinet but I don't think this is the one for you.
Love is blind, I've gotten some really ugly shit because I lusted after it. I just can't be the guy to pass the buck onto someone else... The buck stops here and the cabinets goto heaven! :p

I gotta back FT on this one. I know for a fact that the lesser of the two cabs is ready for the grave. I know this because I gave him his second cabinet and if his first is much worse than that one, it's gotta be bad. I admire FT for his attempt to revive the one I gave him. I know I couldn't revive it and I really didn't want it to go in a landfill. Even the one I gave him will be an expensive and laborious fix.
