I am told they had the best reproduction side art for DL but no longer produce it. Does anyone have a set or two laying about?
Are there any other good sources for the side art?

thanks

I was talking about this thing yesterday:

It is ridicolous that now for the massive amount of illegal repros on Ebay of DL (side art and cpo), a legitimate business like Quater Arcade (who used to give us licensed Side arts and cpos) is forced to not be able to print them anymore.

It is crazy, should be the opposite.

Not to mention the number of R-rated Daphne statues on Ebay. The older I get and look around, the more I realize I should have been a criminal. Seems like following rules is for suckers in this new fucked up world.

Didn't Rich from TOG print them for Quarter Arcade or was that just the CPO?

I remember I tried so many CPO's before just deciding on a better condition original panel. It was one game where I couldn't do without the original Marquee and CPO art, the details in every hue, tint, tone & shades, especially the browns, orange & blues against the black like with the trees & vines were very earthy and hard to replicate, however, that one where I think I remember them collaborating was the only one I thought was good enough to use.

Not sure about the sideart though as I didn't have to replace mine.. one thing I've always wondered about though with the sideart, was there ever an agreed upon height measurement from the top down in inches as broadly accepted?

Mine is on the higher side and I kinda like it, but some I've seen too low and others appear to be just a tad lower then center but not too low and what I seem to remember but at this point with it all over the place I guess that means it's acceptable either way.

If I'm correct the first batch of DL and SA were screen printed and licensed to Arcade renovations which Phillippe sold off the business and the artwork was sold off to Quarter arcade, the first batch they had was screen printed and they sold out and they did a second batch which was not screen printed, now I'm guessing he has sold them out and not doing anymore

so I purchased a set from someone in the UK that came from Arcade Renovations however there was a small hole in the side art. didnt notice it in the pictures and the seller wasnt aware either, they had bought it long ago and put it away, sold the game and still had the item.

i'll post some pictures and you guys can chime in. the other issue is i dont even know if they are usable, if it will be able to be installed or removed from the paper its on, I've never done side art (or anything really as of yet) so will probably need some help with it but not doing this anytime soon

if they were licensed, why did they have to stop? sorry dont know the history

when I was searching online I noticed galloping ghost has an art business, Galloping Ghost Reproductions.

are those licensed? has anyone tried them, are they any good?

I uploaded pictures of the art from Arcade Renovations, its a complete set
the original ship date on this order was Jan 15 2002, just over 23 years ago!

would it be possible to scan these, less the hole :) so that others have a chance to obtain them? @ThisOldGame
would it even be worth doing, scans of reproduced art work?? I dunno

@SCUBA King I noticed your thread of scanning NOS art, would these be worth scanning?

With all those copies flowing around it is pretty easy Quarter Arcade came to the conclusion that was better to stop the production before remitting.

It is crazy, for those like us who want legit products we can not have them because piracy is harming who always made things right.

I have a set of those side art in storage (bought in 2010) but unfortunately the protective film has fused to the actual print and wont come off. I should have got that game finished years ago and installed them.
If you have any then take that film off as the other side, the adhesive side is still good.

Hey @PaulOglesby, I wouldnt know what I would be looking for. Do you see the protective film on this artwork?

Is that paper on top the pf you are referring to?

full

thanks!

Yeah, it's the pre-mask. Get a spray bottle filled with water and soak the pre-mask to dissolve the adhesive. It's water soluble. Keep applying water until the pre-mask starts to remove easily. Spray down, wait 15 mintutes, rinse and repeat. Also, you keep the pre-mask on until the decal has been applied. Removing the pre-mask is the last thing you do.

Yep thats the artwork, you can tell as its got a tab on the side saying official license etc... no amount of water is going to get that mask off, it remains sticky after soakingIMG_4092.JPEGIMG_4087.jpgIMG_4084.jpg, this is not water based, its welded to the art and has completly destroyed it. The art is not shiney any longer, well in places and in places the ink has adheared to the mask adhesive and come away. If it peels off now take it off now before its too late. I bought mine back in 2010 so they have sat for 15 years. I think Jeff at Roses has exactly the same problem as i was talking to him about it on Friday.

I tried some isopropyl alcohol on it and that started to shift it so it make come off with an adhesive remover but unfortunately it still lifts the ink. You would not want to try and do this after you instaslled it on the cab thats for sure.

I though I would give the other one a go and on the most part it has come away OK, this one has glued itself to the art around the edges. So I dont know if its temp, humidity, sunlight or good old time but the pre mask adhesive that is definately not water based has bonded to the art. It doesnt seem to matter how slowly you peel it off either it will randomly pull some ink off in places. I then discovered that the screens on this print were out of register and that the green pass had messed up in the print process in one area.
I beleive this artwork is the most accurate to the original so Im going to scan mine, re touch it and fix all the issues and then get it printed out.

I think it might depend on how well they are stored too. Yours are flat and between card, in the dark so you may be better off. Mine had been all over the place from a stone built outside store to a garden shed. The top one was the worst while the bottom one had just got problems with the edges.

You can try ArcadeArtRepro.com in the Netherlands...Barry is a very friendly and helpful guy and provides really good quality.
As far as i know he has all Art for DL and SA...if you don`t find it on his Website please ask him...he has many more.
I bought a new CPO for DL and it looks really great.
