Im Looking for a Quantum3D RAVEN PCI video card that works on a Vegas PCB. I want to be able to run Sportstation (NFL blitz 2k / NBA Showtime) on my Gauntlet DL vegas board. I have the chips and hard drive, just need the video card to make it work.

Im pretty sure its going to be next to impossible to find this video card so Im also open to purchasing another Vegas board set with NBA Showtime or Sportstation since they will have the card. Thanks!

only the i/o board is the same between GDL and Blitz. the Blitz has a different processor board, they look the same, but they are not.

Hmm, Ive read posts that people have gotten showtime to play on the Gauntlet vegas boards after changing the video card to the Raven and replacing the 49 way sticks with 8 way.

Yes, I recently made the swap from a Gauntlet Legends to a Sportstation and it works...here is a list of what you need to make the change:

- Sportstation 3.0 Gold kit (ROM, security chip, hard drive, marquee)
- A complete Vegas board set
- I-40 optical board (Required for 49 ways to work with Blitz/Showtime)
- Aux board (Required, plugs into the I/O board)
- Sportstation main wiring harness (Gauntlet harness is different)
- Control Panel wiring harness (Required since the 49 ways plug into the I-40, have 11 pin connectors instead of 15 pin)
- Banshee video card (Required for Blitz/Showtime, Gauntlet uses an Obsidian2)

I pulled GL out of the showcase I have and installed Sportstation. I had to re-wire the extension harness and install the main jamma harness. I reused the end connectors on the extension harness and just cut them down to the size I needed. You don't need a special crimping tool or anything, just a flat head screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Don't let anyone discourage you by saying "oh you can't do that" or "that won't work" because it is total BS. If you need any help/advice feel free to shoot me a message and I will gladly help you where I can.

Thanks Woodsy for the great info! I think the biggest problem is finding the Banshee Video card. Its pretty much non existent. I heard you can use the regular consumer card and it may work but even thoes are hard to come by. There is one on ebay right now but Im not paying $190 for it! I guess my best bet will be to find a whole sportstation vegas board set.

Do you think there is any way to do this with out destroying the gauntlet wiring? I love my GDL cabinet and want to keep it intact. I know this wont be easy but maybe I could double wire the cabinet so I could more easily switch between games every so often. Its a shame that they wired up the Gauntlet cabinet so it wont easily work with other games. Its such a great 4player 3 button setup!

I sent you a PM about the card...so no worries :)

You can double wire it, you will have to use some connectors for the wires between the test switch, volume controls, coin doors, lights, etc...it will also take a little time to put it all back to a GDL since you have to swap the roms and hard drive, swap the main harness, swap the extra control harnesses, swap the control panel harness and then rotate the joystick boards 90 degrees. I had both GL and GDL that I could switch between, but decided to just sell the roms and hard drives since I re-wired the harness and went to a dedicated Sportstation.

Man! That sounds like a hell of a lota work! It might be easier for me to just find an older Blitz or NBA jam midway cab and upgrade that to sportstation! Im gonna have to think about this for a minute.

Well, if you have all of the harnesses in place, it won't take long at all, it's just a matter of unplugging and plugging. If you had a second Vegas board setup, then you could use a JAMMA switcher and would only have to rotate the joystick boards.

um, yeah, ok, you just did about 50x time more then what the original poster was talking about.

i can convert a pacman to run blitz too doing all that.

the original poster stated he wanted the video card and was just going to swap it, and it would work.

Now, did you use both the Vegas I/O and the Processor Board from the GDL? or did you swap those too?

um, yeah, ok, I used both the Vegas I/O and the Processor Board from the Gauntlet Legends, BUT I also have a second Vegas board set that had Gauntlet Dark Legacy and verified that Sportstation worked on that Vegas I/O and the Processor Board as well.

As far you saying I did 50X more work, all I was doing was explaining to him how and what you actually need (besides just a video card) to make it work and that Sportstation WILL WORK with the GL/GDL Vegas I/O and the Processor Board.
