WTB QBert Bezel

booo to that! I saw that too, and am having a hard time trying to justify it (for a plexi bezel nonetheless) but might not have a chance

I will see what the actual postage is once it has arrived and post my results here.

I'm gonna have to eat the shipping cost and order it eventually .. unfortunately that's the only way to go unless you can find a decent original. I was watching a plexi qbert bezel on ebay today that ended up going for $162 ... in all fairness, I think the people bidding on it were a bit mislead - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170707989969&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:US:1123 there's a small blurb at the bottom that says it's plexi. That puts it in perspective I guess

Scan it and print it on sticker paper. Thats what I will do. Ive seen it done with Donkey Kong, and it looked great. Im trying to track down the 2 Qberts I sold, so I can scan it.

Not a bad idea, if you get a good scan I'll buy one from ya

Yeah, I've been looking for one for quite a while now. I've got an older one with some flaking but it works for now.
Same thing w/ Mike's, I think it's a bit of a rip. I haven't been very happy with Mike's in some previous transactions and I guess I'm just holding out until someone else like Phoenix arcade or TOG decided to make a run of these...

I saw that listing, too....

...I contacted the seller to see if it was glass or plastic - he seemed like a good guy, but I think he was misleading. To me, 'NOS' should only be stated if it was original parts and not reproduction - even if the reproduction was done more than e couple years ago.

I have an original Q Bert glass, but the artwork is bubbling off so I'm considering getting a replacement. I read somewhere there is some repair clear paint stuff that I might try also...

Here's how the messages went with the eBay seller:

From me (Sent Date:Oct-07-11 09: 22:50 PDT), "Hello, Please confirm - Is this Q*Bert Bezel glass (not plastic)?"

From seller (Sent Date:Oct-10-11 19:33 PDT), "i have adjusted my listing to indicate that it is plexi glass and not glass. i don't know which is better, but this won't break and it is heavy it is about 1/4 inch thick...but not as heavy as glass would be i suppose."

From me (Sent Date:Oct-11-11 08:25:16 PDT), "Hello, Thanks for responding. I believe the original ones were glass, at least that's what mine has (but artwork is separating under the glass). When did you get this approximately? I'm not sure if yours is considered 'NOS' if it is a reproduction plexi. With that said, I'm still looking to replace mine and may still bid on yours :)." (I think it was $51 with free shipping at that point)

From seller (Sent Date:Oct-11-11 10:19 AM), "i used to have a huge collection of games and parts, and i have been selling things lately to help pay bills, i am sad to see it go, but kids come first you know...i would guess that i had this for at least 5 years, where it came from before that...? I sold my Qbert and Qberts Qubes together and i was going to put this in to them but the parts were one place the games in another, so you can imagine how things go...i have so much to go through, i just don't want to put more on ebay than i will have a chance to keep up with...so keep watching i have sideart coming next i just found in one of my boxes...thanks for you time...good luck either way with your Qbert!"

---I would almost bet the high bidders think they were bidding on a true 'NOS' part. Sounds like he'll have more stuff popping up. As for me, I think I'll try to restore my glass one before spending $80+ to replace.

I like the idea of basically a sticker that would have the adhesive on the art side. Then you could either scrape the glass clean before applying or get a new piece of tempered glass locally to save on shipping. It seems like the repro guys could do a pre-made die cut label for around $30-$40, then ship in a tube for around $8-$12. I personally prefer glass which doesn't scratch easy to clean with windex....

Yes we do :D

Yeah, the NOS was terribly misleading - I was gonna jump into the bidding on this thing until I realized it was Plexi - someone is gonna be mighty pissed when they receive it I'm guessing. I don't know if I woulda paid $167 for an original glass bezel anyway. Rikitiki, you make them? I would buy one
