WTB - PIONEER PR-8210A Laserdisc Player for Star Rider

Hello, I am looking to buy a PIONEER PR-8210A Laserdisc Player for my Star Rider Project. I have a Sit Down Star Rider I complete Board Set and a Partial Board set missing a lot of chips, a laserdisc that plays fine in my home laserdisc Player. I have all the cables and everything now I just need the player. I really want to play this so get with me if you have one available. PEACE Bart

Have you tried posting a request on DLP, someone is bound to have one of those. Also, if you can find a laserAce conversion card, you can then use a more modern player.

I have one that I was told only works in Astron Belt or Galaxy Ranger...not DL or Space Ace. The one I have is a Matrox CDV-1082. Do your home work to see if this one works in your game first.

I'll let it go it for $50 plus shipping. It has very little use and I tested it with some laser movies....it works fine. The only thing missing is the top cover.

Here are some pics if you're interesed: http://www.arcadesolution.com/laserd.html

thanks,
Andre

Funny, I was contemplating on getting one of these in the near future but heldback because of the player. So the Lasercon and Laserace cards won't work on this????

I've got a couple of complete Star Rider sitdowns in nice shape that I'd sell whole, but I don't want to part them out. And I haven't found any extra players...it is a tough player to find. I think the LDP used in Star Rider is unique to that game, so just think how many of these WMS must have produced, and then how many operators were pack-ratty enough to keep a broken LDP that they KNEW would never help them in any way.

That said, I'm sure there are still some floating around out there...it's just a matter of finding them.

That genius guy at CAX this year made it sound like he'd have a solution for Star Rider within a year. I'm waiting anxiously for that solution. Can't remember his website for progress update....anyone here remember? I'd love to check how things are going.

LaserAce or LDP Conversion

You have a couple of options with Star Rider:

LaserAce will let your Star Rider use a variety of different laser disc players. Shertz has some NOS Laserace units for sale right now in the FS section for a very good price.

You can also try to do this:

Hope this helps.

Thanks Perf! That's all I need to know....

Well I guess I was wrong about the Laserace and Star Rider. I would have sworn it was on the laserace list but it's not. The only option is the player rebuilt then I guess.
I am sorry for the confusion I created. :(

I am still looking for a Pioneer 8210A laserdisc player for my Star Rider. It can be working or broken please let me know what you would want for one. I really want to take a ride through psychedelic space. I hope to hear from someone. PEACE

So does this laserdisc player exist? Did they all fall into landfills 20yrs ago? Does anyone even have a broken one they would come off of. Let me know. I just want to see the game work. It is big and collecting dust.

I've got two PR-8210s, but I'm not sure if they are "a". I can check tonight.

One powers on, but the disk won't play - might be an alignment problem. The other won't power on at all. You can have either/both for the cost of shipping.

Pete
