Museum of the Game® & International Arcade Museum® Forums
I'm putting together the first of a few mini pop culture shows in just over a month, and the first one is driving themed. I need to find about 10 driving themed arcade games from the 80s or 90s.
Price: willing to pay fair prices or retail (or maybe even more for the right pieces). Condition: very important. It should present well in a gallery or museum setting and will be surrounded by good lighting and non-arcade pieces in pristine condition. A, A- or B+ machines wanted...
The machines will receive moderate play for a year, and should be reliable. I'm going to set them up for token play.
I'm looking for:
1 twin (2-player) linked sit-down racer (definitely) [Daytona? Crusin' Exotica? San Francisco Rock? -- I don't really have any preconceived opinions)
1 ride on motocycle game (optional, but seems like a nice idea).
For uprights:
I found a Spy Hunter already.
I was thinking of machines like (but not married to any of them):
Super Off Road (3 player game)
Pole Position (if reliable)
Rally-X
Sega Hang-On (especially if I don't find a ride on motocycle game)
???

I'd love a variety of game styles and of driving mechanics... some drivers you just move left and ride. Some you will wipe out or spin out easily if you hit a curve too fast or even if you take you foot off the gas too fast. I just played a twin Sega Touring Car (1996) and the mechanics were very different and maybe more realistic than say that of Daytona. [The Touring Car isn't available to me.]
