WTB or borrow: Time Crisis 1 topper (USA SD version, red plastic)

**EDIT: Maybe don't need this anymore, trying to get my hands on another complete cab at the moment.**

This is for the black USA cab with mirror projection and medallion sideart. Red plastic sides on topper with Namco stickers.

I specify all that because the Euro and Jap cabs are different.

I'd pay a couple hundred at least depending on condition. Does not need to have marquee.

Also as another possibility I would pay to even borrow one to reproduce. I'm not sure if I can vaccuum form side pieces, something to look into, but reproducing the wood would suffice.

I'd ask if anyone has one and would take measurements, but there are a lot of curves on the side pieces and alignment questions. That gets tedious for people.

BUMP.

Kind of weird to get 40 views with not even a comment. I guess there are folks here that just read everything lol.

Anybody know cointech IRL to ask if he still has his? I mean he was trying to sell one in 2011, surely he still has it.

Bump.

I'm trying to buy another complete machine right now to get this, but it's not looking good.

Anybody have one like pictured?

Did you ever have any luck in finding one?

I'm trying to find one in Australia and it's proving to be quite a challenge :)

Yes, I ended up buying a 2nd TC1 cab with a topper.

I picked up a GunBarl cab which had a marquee plastic in pretty shite condition. I'm waiting for some mold making plastic and plan to build a 2x4 vacuum former to reproduce it.

And since I also have another TC1 without the topper... and don't like to waste... I am also tentatively planning to form marquee plastics for that. If/when that happens I'll look you up.

When that time comes I'll have to build another frame also. If/when that happens I could probably cut an extra if you actually want to squander the money on shipping.

Marquee brackets though... there is no demand to reproduce, probably just have to machine my own.

So is the time crisis and point blank topper the same size?

I have no idea how the toppers look like. I just know I have this metal piece on top of my TC cab that looks like you slide the topper into to "lock" it in place.

I'm not even fussed if it's the US version topper or not, I just would like one lol.. The cab I have is the UK version by the look of things.. (the red/yellow/orange one).

If you do ever make a repro, please let me know - I don't think I'll be able to find one of these so easily.

Have you got a pic of your setup/toppers?

Oh, you have the Euro cab. I sort of like the look of that one better than the USA version. But about that, your topper is way different.

If you do some image searching the Euro topper has tall white plastic sides, and a curved marquee. The USA topper is deep and shorter and has a flat marquee with brackets. GunBarl style Jap cab is different from both.

Also not sure if Euro cab topper is MDF or metal. USA version is mostly MDF. I assume Euro is MDF since it has those 1/2" hooks like TC2. My USA cabs don't have those hooks.

So anyways, all that aside you could probably retrofit a USA style topper, but may need to take a bunch of measurements to make sure it will fit (USA version was only 27", not sure about Euro). Seems a waste since the Euro marquee is also different art so it wouldn't match.

I'm assuming this is the euro cab?

I thought it's made out of hard plastic, not so much mdf?

This looks to be exactly the same size as the US cab.. But I could be totally wrong.

As for the composition of the Euro version, I'm not sure what the frame is made of. Your Euro version manual might have a part in it about replacing the marquee bulb which might have pics, but I sorta doubt it will reveal the composition. US version is MDF with some MDF furring strips to mount the plastics on the sides, and has angled wood under the marquee instead of a bent marquee.

I'll try to take a few pics of the exposed assembly and some of the critical measurements when time permits me, I'd imagine it would fit but you would need to make new mounting holes in the top of the cab since the shapes are very different and the US topper doesn't use those 1/2" hooks (though I'd imagine if you route a couple of slots in the frame you could still use the front hooks).
