WTB Omega Race PCB

Or pcb

I have 14 complete board sets all have acid damage. I can not remember seeing one that did not have it.

Good Luck...

I think thats why you see boards worth more than the cab...

I wish I was tech savvy on fixing these. You would me a millionaire!

I got a few lying around but yes, they all need work and all have acid damage.......some more than others. It takes a lot of time to get one running that's why they go for so much money and demand is high too. It's one of those games that just don't look right on mame either. I'm lucky to have 2 working omega race games in my collection. I will have to part with one soon. I hate to do it but I think I'll have to let the upright go. I have a cocktail in my basement and it fits in nicely with the rest of the games. The upright is just about mint. Both game boards have been worked on by me and I have to say once working they haven't giving me any more problems. It probably takes about 10hrs just to clean the acid damaged areas and then you have to fix what ever else was wrong with the board. The cocktail game has been working for me now going on about 5 years. The upright I just acquired late last year but it's been running since then.

I'm going to have to find some time and look at my other omega boards. One of these weeks, maybe this fall or winter. I'm sure I'll get some more running.

What do you use to clean the acid areas with? Would it be worth trying to just clean those areas and replace the battery and see what happens?

Typically the acid has destroyed several components. Cleaning up the mess and replacing what is clearly damaged takes several hours work (for someone who knows what they're doing), and that is just the first step.
Post some pics of the motherboard and we'll let you know if it even looks like it is worth the effort.

Don't even bother replacing the battery at the moment. Try and clean it up with distilled water and vinegar with an old toothbrush. Post pics!

Omega race PCB

I have one that I spoke to the op about. It has no or very minimal acid damage but there is a short in a 5 volt component because it pulls down the 5v on the powersupply. 2 different power supplys actually. I am wondering what a repairable one that is very clean is worth?

A very clean one that is untested can go for ~$100 on eBay. Very clean, but tested non-working... maybe a bit less.
Minor acid damage: ~$50. Major to typical acid damage: $20 - $40. That is assuming the boards are still complete. If they've been stripped of their DACs already then they're essentially worthless.

What would be the judgement on this one?
... with regard to battery acid damage.
Looks pretty good to me but I haven't seen many.

Yeah... I noticed that. I dug these out of a stack of boards in the back of my garage. I cannot remember "where" or "why" I have them so I don't know if they were alleged to be 'working' or not.

Here's another one I found. Looks worse. The pictures aren't as good either (late afternoon lack of sun) but is it 'typical', 'better', or 'worse' in your opinion?

The damage is not as localized as on the previous board. The battery juice has crept much further, so there's potentially a lot more work to be done. This level of damage is what I would call typical. :001_ssad:
