just as the subject says, looking for a NOS CPO for my galaga. im not really satisfied with any repros out there (even though phoenixarcade is great and i absolutely love their ms. pac-man CPO, the text on the galaga CPO isnt 100% accurate, and yes, i am that picky). if anyone has one theyre willing to part with, please shoot me a pm. thanks.

for my reference can you show me where my text is wrong on the galaga? I take no offense to your feedback. I appreciate it actually.

unless the text has been changed recently, it appears (at least on the website pics) thinner compared to the bold text on the nos cpo. i guess pics are worth a thousand words, so even though this thread is old, it provides some great comparison.

phoenix arcade easily has the best repros around though. im just a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff and tend to nitpick :p

I missed that thread, thanks for pointing it out

My art file was created back in 2003 (I think) from an nos I got from Al Gross who had been an op dating back to the 50's! He had a massive stash of nos art, most not in the best condition but still useable. Believe it or not Al would take his nos art down to Kinkos and make color copies of it and put it on games and cover it with mylar. He loved doing that! No matter how poor it looked. That way he always had an nos piece to copy. It worked for him for decades.

I dont remember back that far and obviously dont have the nos to compare today. There were several sets of films for games where thousands were made. I cant say that I got one of those different versions but the comparisons you show there are differences. Im not sure I would change anything either.

Cheers

some game art had revisions so there were sometime differences between runs. I'd be curious for anyone who owns a galaga to post a pic of their original cpo to see if anyone has different versions or if they are all the same. If there are differences I would also be curious which version is more prevalent.

FYI... I've had both the Namco and Phoenix version... the Phoenix version was 100% spot on to the original Galaga which I had, unfortunately I have no pic for proof. The Namco was waaaay off in terms of color and font...

i have a few "new" galaga CPOs...tell me how to tell if it's original, or what i can look for? i'm posting a for sale thread in a few minutes. pic attached:
