So, I replaced the battery on my memory card and my NEO GEO is still not recognizing it. I also tried another memory card some time ago and that didn't work either. I am convinced my Memory Card PCB is bad. I'm out of ideas.

Does anyone have one of these? It's the one with the Memory Card Reader and the two headphone jacks.

I could use the two little headphone jacks if someone's board doesn't work. Mine are broken. Please PM me your demands.

The memory cards are, frankly, over rated. I have a Neosavemasta V1 with my last Neo-Geo... the card got used only when I first bought it when I was testing it and what not... NEVER ONCE after that.

If the card saved high scores that would be one thing, but it doesn't. It's only really useful with the Metal Slug series (lets you choose any level you've beaten) and perhaps games like Baseball Stars to save seasons... but that's about it.

I was hoping to use it for Baseball Stars and long games I don't want to finish in one sitting. Like Magician Lord, etc.

NeoTurfMasta is a great guy... and if you were going to buy a memory card you'd be a fool not to seriously consider the NeoSaveMasta... but OP is having troubles with his actual memory board it appears. I am not sure if it's worth spending the dough on to get it up and running frankly. I'd also recommend the OP borrow a known working board to test before he buys ... could be the harness.

How about that harness... CRAZY harness for what it is, huh?

The harness is out of control. There are like 100 wires going to the memory card PCB. What the hell?! They must have really believed in the memory card because it seems like it added a ton of cost to the unit. NUTS.

So, I got my SaveMasta card today and it didn't work, it was resetting the PCB when I inserted it. So, I took the PCB off and reversed the ribbon cables. And, well, it fixed it! D'oh! It works now! Sweet.

Not sure if I reversed them the last time I was messing with it or if they have always been like that. Either way, this was the first known working card I have had so maybe it was fine all along and I just never had a good card. :)
